Bryce Brown

Bryce ran with a fluid style in the limited performances at UT...was easy to see how, when healthy, this kid was going to be special.

Sad situation for him all around in college...but, looks like he may be on his way in the NFL.

Bryce Brown was a waste of talent at UT? Hell, what about Adrian Foster! And whatever you think of Bryce, I still blame that chucklehead Kiffin for playing him late vs. UCLA. Remember the game we lost late right at their goaline? This is the sequence directly from the ESPN archive.

1st and Goal at UCLA 7 Bryce Brown rush for a loss of 1 yard to the UCLA 8.
2nd and Goal at UCLA 8 Montario Hardesty rush for 5 yards to the UCLA 3.
3rd and Goal at UCLA 3 Bryce Brown rush for 1 yard to the UCLA 2.
4th and Goal at UCLA 2 Montario Hardesty rush for 1 yard to the UCLA 1.

So Kiffin is ALTERNATING Brown and Hardesty, running each in from the sidelines on alternating plays. Comments

A. Hardesty is much more of a power back than Brown
B. Why are you running each back in on alternate plays from the sideline? They're going to wear themselves out running back and forth you effing moron!
C. Why is Brown running at all? What about keeping Montario in rythym? See B!
D. Kiffin was an effing MORON, and some of you still think he was a "purty good corch". Without his diddy running the D, he was terrible and even with him he was above average at best. My God! We fired Fulmer for THAT ahole?
E. Hardesty two carries SIX yards, Brown 2 carries ZERO yards. Nuff said! Hey Kiffin...RUN HARDESTY FOUR TIMES YOU EFFING ASS CLOWN!

Comments finished. As you were.

But...oh yeah. Always thought Brown was overated anyway. Hardesty has been in the NFL from Day one and is still playing...I think for the Bills, and Foster is obviously 20x the back Brown is. Still pretty good if he's in the NFL, but yeah, Kiffin cost us that UCLA game big time.:finger3:

Foster had 3,700+ total yards while being injured a good 25% of his college career. We haven't had a running back come anywhere close to that kind of production since. That's not exactly a waste of talent.

Then why was he undrafted?

Am I Mel Kiper? I just gave you the facts on AF's college production and proof that he wasn't a waste of talent at UT. After AF's junior year he was projected a 2nd round pick but CPF talked him into coming back. Speculation on why he wasn't drafted centered around his bad attitude and possibly being injury prone. Having problems dealing with his HC and the local press didn't help. Being undrafted was not due to AF being an unproductive college player though.

Another proof of the Dooley idiocy. He thought he was Saban and was too good to promise BB the carries he wanted.

Then what happened? DD said he wouldn't recruit players already on campus.

Daddy told him to come home. He never wanted to leave. You can google a GVX story that has direct quotes from BB on this.

Dooley rightly would not let a parent bully him into anything. Criticize when needed, but give credit when due

He was hurt for most of the year and had an awful QB lining up in front of him ....and then the coach left. Things weren't exactly easy for him.

Didn't stop Hardesty. And BB should have been behind Tauren Poole that year as well. More of Kiffin's epic tomfoolery. It was pretty easy for BB, actually.

Most VN posters didn't care about Bryce AFTER HE DECIDED HE DIDN'T WANT TO BE HERE.

This.

I'm really surprised it worked out for him. As someone said, that ain't the norm. I think BB might have been a real good egg, but his father gave him a lot of bad advice. Happens.
