He just turned 17 at the end of the school year, he won't even turn 18 until he is about to graduate. He's probably one of the youngest in his class. You have something to say about everything.

I think he was trying to say that every SR in HS is 17. I don't think he was trying to be a smartbutt.

I have to say something about everything? I have 550 posts. Much less than you.

The only reason i said that is because I don't understand why everyone is making a big deal about his age. Most kids don't turn 17 until the end the school year.

I'm sorry, I got you confused with another poster. However, I only see one post about his age so it doesn't seem like its being made into a big deal.

I have just seen this discussion on volquest and they had the same thing to say. I just don't understand that poit of view.

I don't think its that big of a deal, however, he is young for a senior. If he turns 18 in late May then school is most likely out. Most kids turn 18 sometime in their senior year.

I think this guy looked pretty tough. On one or two of those plays he kept the ball on the veer and trucked some LBs.

Mullet... you saw a clip where he ran the veer?

The one I saw only had him running the spread.

vol625, my son grew about 7" in a year and went from being a chubby little boy to a tall lean young man.

I didn't stop growing until about 18 and probably grew an inch between 17 and 18. I didn't reach muscular maturity until about 20... I had a class mate that stopped growing at 12 and was reached muscular maturity by the end of our Freshman year.

My point is that 4, 6, 9, or 12 months can make a world of difference in physical maturity for someone just turning 17... as opposed even to someone who turned 17 last October.

Exactly though, all rising seniors are going to be like that, regardless if they turned 17 yesterday or in december.

On avg, a kid who is 17 and a half is closer to full maturity than a kid that is 17. The difference between those ages is much more significant as far as bodily changes than say 30 and 30 and a half.

Every Sr will be "like that" but someone 6 months younger is more likely to be "like that".

Poor Bryce, I sure hope he isn't reading this thread where people are already labeling him as a "back-up".

I for one am happy he is a Tennessee Volunteer!!!!

Welcome to the family Bryce!!:hi::rock:

I think this kid looked really good in the latest video on rivals. I think i'm starting to think he is a little underrated, plus the video showed that he can pick up the tough yards when needed. the video also talked about, and showed clips of nyshier oliver, and man that guy has an extra gear, but he seems a little small. just thought i would mention that, even though the thread is for bryce petty.:)

He seems like a sleeper. He wasn't getting a whole lot of attention until he started getting into these camps. Obviously, our coaches saw something they like about the kid or they wouldn't have offered. I'd rather snatch him up now than risk the chance that he is a stud prospect and we wiffed when he was in our camp ready to go.

First thing I noticed from his highlight tapes is he knows how to look at the sideline for the play if we ever use that again.

Is he from Oregon or Washington or Hawaii or California?

Then I'll give him a chance and say Go Vols...

Yeah all I was saying about his age is he is young for his class, only two months away from having to be in a lesser grade. So he might grow a little more. I swear some people just always have to read more into a statement than what it is and try to always be smarter than the room. Yes I'm talking to you Volball625

I havent see anyone mention the fact that he has only been in a passing offense for 1 year and that is the highlights you see. He was a transfer from Arkansas where he was a Wing T QB and rarely threw the football. So in 1 season he is already a 3 star QB. What is he going to be with another year?

As usual, the recruiting forum has tangents that are incredibly annoying.

For me, while I see the potential, the highlights videos didn't scream "AMAZING" to me as the throws he had to make were incredibly basic.

ViA, speaking of tangents... I think your response fits the other thread better. This one is about changing directions in recruiting strategy. What I posted illustrates a point that GJ and I have both made.

Man am I messed up. Sorry.

I'm guessing you weren't referring to my links about Bryce Petty then?

Or that he might just be "amazing" in spite of not being given the Rivals stamp of "amazing" approval.

Agree with you on the game clips btw. He has a good quick release and appears to be very accurate but they didn't show "amazing" arm strength or anything.

That was last fall however the clip linked by ryancy of the combine he went to had one throw that looked to show a good touch on a deeper throw. He also had some zip on the slants and short routes.
