Bryce Petty

Does the fact that his team went 5-5 (2-4) in thier division mean anything?

Yes. But none of us, most likely including you "KNOWS" what it means. Although speculation derived from each person's own general perspective will almost surely follow now that you've asked the question.

I'd think that by looking at the box scores from their games last year you could get a decent idea. It's a fair quesiton to ask. The QB has the most influence on Ws and Ls of any position on the team.

I'm old and have lived away for a long time so forgive me for referring to the last time I really followed a HS football team closely.

When Heath Shuler was a HS QB, he was ALWAYS a man amongst boys no matter who they played. However they never had an undefeated season during his time as QB. They were 1A and lost to some 3A and 4A teams. He still did the work of 5 guys but the guys around him just didn't have the talent to make up the difference.

If this kid is playing behind a weak OL in a competitive Texas 4A conference then that will effect his numbers and limit him to the more "dink and dunk" types of throws most of the time.

Honestly, I don't know how good he is or could be but football is a team game. Their record could be the result of any number of things.

That's not necessarily true. For most high school teams, I'd say there are several guys on the team that probably contribute more to a team's success than the QB.

Midlothian tied for second to last in thier division and the team that won the division was beat in the first round of the playoffs. This may or may not be germane to Kelly's abilties but I think it bears some discussion.

good we got a sleeper. just so happens we have a smart off coordinator who does well with qb. he hasnt played in the passing game much so his numbers are down. hesaid he ws goin to redshirt first year to learn. let this be clawson's project and by his junior or senior year at qb maybe he will push some of peytons stats around. OMG! yes i said it. records were made to be broken. maybe this guy is th eone to do it and get that national championship he couldnt either. lets look ahead and be optimistic. yall crash somebody as soon as we get them. they are too big too small low gpa too slow. god bless the fans that say welcome to the team we are glad to have you. most of yall wan to run these new guys off before they can have a week of practice.

This is the stupidest post of the week. A guy who hasn't even played his SR year of HS is going to "push around" Peyton's records and win a NC.

Meth or LSD?

Just sign the kid and see what happens. I wasn't successful four years ago, but am now. Why can't this kid's story be the same?

In fairness, Petty may be a great player some day. This whole discussion is not about him, or any other commitment, individually. It's more about the somewhat odd direction that recruiting seems to have taken in the past week.

Not to mention, he's already made the assumption that we have a smart offensive coordinator when he hasn't even coached a down in Knoxville yet...
