BSU VS VT Time: 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, FedEx Field (91,704),

VT should go for two
I hate it when coaches do that. I've always thought it was a bad move to chase the point until it was absolutely necessary; especially when there's a lot of time left and you are moving the ball.

They have played it pretty conservatively thus far in the tricks department.

i'm not saying they're going to run out there and do 6 trick plays...but they have to realize how important this game is; that if they don't win this game, the national championship almost completely falls out of their grasp - more so than it would with most other college teams

it's like having a music city miracle play for a playoff game: the implications for this game are huge, the coach knows it, and he's probably got something for the end just in case, b/c what they want this season very much hinges on this game

Hard to tell. Tech's OLine was awful early. Not much better of late. Taylor has made most of the yardage by roaming around or ad libbing.

True, but they are where they need to be and when they hit they bring the heat.

the 2 point conversion is usually a lot less nerve wracking when it's done earlier, though. just throwing that out there. plus going for it in that situation gives you a 3 point lead. so why beat around the bush when a field goal by the opposing team trumps a 1 or 2 point lead. just the way i look at it.

Im generally with you on Tech. Clearly better team, but not as good as preseason rank would have you believe.

Va Tech has sort of become like Georgia was 5 years ago and Michigan was about 10 years ago. Always in the top 10 and nobody can explain why.

yeah, but in this case 1 point doesn't buy you anything. A FG can still beat you. With 2 points a FG ties it. I think it makes sense.

Part of me agrees but at the same time, it's better to know what you need when there is still time left.

For instance...

Down 15 in the 4th and you score a touchdown with 10 minutes left in the game. I'd go for two after the first touchdown just in case. Lots of coaches would wait to go for it on the 2nd touchdown with the game on the line.

The fact that my fraternal big brother's Dad was in the Engineering Department on that fateful day makes me wicked protective.

Oh, I know. I'm just pointing out that I was surprised that when Boise was up 26-21, they didn't go for two and instead attempted and failed a PAT.

With that said, I feel a trick of some sort coming sometime eventually. (If they need it)

ah, ok.

gotcha

I don't know...not really sold on the Kellen Moore hype so far. He is a solid QB, but the heisman talk seems pre-mature.

He has looked better in the past.

Remember, this is the first game of the season. Lots of kinks to be worked out.

The shooting makes you protective of the general opinion of the football team?
