Bubble Watch Games

1-3, we did get Bama once. But I don't think head to head should end it. You want to talk about scheduling better, of Bama/Ole Miss/UVA/MTSU...who has scheduled better than Tenn? Who has more quality wins? KY...we know they factor in injuries...so Noel should do them in...UVA I think has 7 losses past RPI Top 100...I know it seems like a jumbled mess, I just want to know the answers to the questions above.

Let's use ole miss here.

They finished higher in the conference standings. Beat the Vols twice. And will probably make it to the conference tourney final.

I don't see how Tennessee can get a bid before them

Games to watch tomorrow, and who we need to win:

Need UNC to beat Maryland
Need UF to beat Bama
Need Vandy to beat Ole Miss
Need Memphis to beat Southern Miss
Need VCU to beat UMass
Need Akron to beat Ohio

wouldn't it be 1-2 vs Bama and 0-2 vs Ole miss?

we've only played 1 team 3 times to my knowledge this season (and none 4 times)

Yeah, oops on my part there. But still, whole body of work, I don't see who has more quality wins or a tougher SOS.

Again conf. tourny final, too much emphasis, they beat Vandy on the way so what? Mizzou great win, we beat them as well. Conference standings? Who cares? We were 10-6 and what a 2 seed last year? Didn't mean we deserved a bid.

This. Plus I thought he was talking about Ole miss and UVA. that woulda made us 0-3. But he has a point, I just think our resume is a little weaker than we thought now that a couple of other teams near us have solid wins.

The one thing that may help Tennessee that hasn't been brought up is "the eye test"

They pass the eye test

It's a whole body of work, you're supposed to be rewarded for non-conf...who cares if Ole Miss had a better record by Tenn by 1 game in the conference with probably less quality wins along the way?

UVA beat us, but I don't see a single reason they should be in over us. If someone can explain that to me than awesome. MTSU, same thing I see no reason. As for KY...I think the general consensus here is that we should be in over them. That leaves teams like Ole Miss and Bama...if Bama loses tomorrow, I think we should definitely be in over them, if someone wants to explain why not, I'd love to hear. With all that being said, if Ole Miss is in over us, shouldnt there be some spots left for us anyway? Sorry for the rant today, not mad at anyone, just driving myself crazy over this.

I'm biased.

But I've watched Tennessee the last twelve games. They are an NCAA tourney team. I know it shouldn't come down to this, but UT should get in over freaking La Salle and Boise State. I've seen both those teams. They aren't tournament caliber.

It's the one bad thing about the VCU/Butler/George Mason runs. Seven years ago, those teams aren't even on the bubble. They aren't even talked about getting in. But now you see a decent mid major with a resume, and they should be talked about on the bubble, even though they don't deserve. Does anyone seeing La Salle going 11-7 in the SEC? Me either.

If you we're 2-0 against a team, had a better conference record and performed better in the conference tournament than the other team......you would be pissed if you we're left home while they went to the dance.

And you should be.

Same reason Miami should be seeded higher than duke....except the 2-0 part

Say what you will, but TN should be in over KY.

Had Noel been healthy, they would easily be in (I assume they would have won a couple extra games along the way).

Without him, they aren't a tourney team. They don't pass the eye test.

Also, I think Bama should get in too. They pass the eye test. JMO.

If Bama loses tomorrow CB, I think they get left out and as long as Ole Miss beats Vandy, they get in.

If the team that I went 2-0 against had a better body of work, I'd understand, so someone show me where Ole Miss body is better. SOS = Tenn. Wins over NCAA Tourny teams = Tenn. Eye test is crucial, Ole Miss lost to MISS ST for goodness sake, who cares if it was a week before the conference tourny and not actually in it, it's relevant, that stuff cant slide, even South Carolina. Meanwhile Tenn is about what, 9 for last 11? Sounds like a team playing well enough to be in.

Vols are inconsistent as hell, bit are capable of beating elite competition on a given day.

I think Tennessee is better than ole miss.

But, if I were on the committee I could not ignore the reasons I have given

We are on your side, but the argument is harder tonight than it was this morning. I know they aren't supposed to, but I also think that they consider that we beat UK after they lost Noel. Plus them getting blown out tonight doesn't help. So essentially, our "good" wins are Florida, Wichita State, and a Missouri team that won 2 road games all year. Our RPI is mid to high 50's. I think we deserve to get in, but if left out, it's hard to say we got screwed with those numbers.

What the hell is "the eye test" supposed to mean? I'm pretty sure that won't be one of the criteria by which we are judged tomorrow. We didn't even score 50 today--what sort of eye test success is that?

We'd better hope that underdogs are not winning tourneys this weekend, or we will be in trouble.

One thing that they've emphasized a ton in the past is non-conf SOS, ours is a ton better than Bama/Ole Miss/UVA...when there is so much parity in terms of the bubbles beating up on each other, I think this is crucial. As well as quality wins, none of these teams really can argue they have more than Tenn...I'd give us a slight edge in the department but when it's not really too separated, I truly think you have to reward teams for scheduling really well non-conf, going on the road etc. I hope it really helps.
