Bubble Watch Games

What the hell is "the eye test" supposed to mean? I'm pretty sure that won't be one of the criteria by which we are judged tomorrow. We didn't even score 50 today--what sort of eye test success is that?

Are they a good team. I'm a numbers guy, and the committee is too, but it's important to watch a team.

Let's take Georgetown for example. To me, they are a #1 seed. I've seen them play. They play gritty defense and get to the paint on offense. Now let's take Michigan. I've seen them play a bunch. Their resumes are about the same, but UM is too streaky.

The eye test isn't based on one game, that'd be insane.

I agree with your point, but I read one member speaking about the RPI and BPI being significant because some members couldn't scout out some of the bubble teams. I think that's unbelievable.

Some if the members of the committee are administrators and not basketball people

One thing that they've emphasized a ton in the past is non-conf SOS, ours is a ton better than Bama/Ole Miss/UVA...when there is so much parity in terms of the bubbles beating up on each other, I think this is crucial. As well as quality wins, none of these teams really can argue they have more than Tenn...I'd give us a slight edge in the department but when it's not really too separated, I truly think you have to reward teams for scheduling really well non-conf, going on the road etc. I hope it really helps.

It should, and I hope you are right. If we had just beaten Memphis or Georgetown, we would be talking about seeding instead of worrying about a bid. We are so so ****ing close!

Is there a list of committee members and their credentials?

It may be available somewhere.

A lot of athletic directors on the committee if I recall

Conference commissioners too, I believe. Don't hold me to that

For Tennessee to have a decent chance we need all these to go our way...

11:30am USM vs. Memphis
1:00pm Alabama vs. Florida
3:00pm Vanderbilt vs. Ole Miss*
3:00pm Maryland vs. UNC
4:00pm UMASS vs. VCU

*if ole miss wins, but loses tomorrow that may be ok if the rest break our way.

So our RPI has crept up to a 57 now? How are you feeling in general about our chances, lets say if all of these games except the Ole Miss game go our way?

It will be a tall task for Vandy to beat Ole Miss, but then again, I didnt think they would beat Kentucky. Good chance on the rest falling though.

If they ALL go our way I think about 75% we are in, if any don't our chances drop to about 10%.

I feel like we may be the last team in, but you've got some teams right behind us that could pass us.

Vandy wouldn't be a good win for Ole miss so I could see it possible that they win today but lose tomorrow and are still out...then again though making the championship is a strong statement.

Maybe Vandy keeps up the shooting and Ole Miss has a let down. Still can't believe Missouri blew that, we'd actually be in pretty good position had they held on.

I sure hope you are right.

That freaking inbound play was absurd. I keep seeing it in slow motion lol. Of all the ways to blow a game, and then to see that asshat Henderson run his mouth. Nightmare.

I think if Ole Miss wins today, they are in. Our only argument is their HORRIBLE sos.
Ole Miss has an RPI of 50, we are 57.
against the top 50, Ole Miss is 2-3, we are 3-5.
against the 51-100, Ole Miss is 6-3, we are 6-5.
SOS for Ole Miss is 143 we are 47.
Last 12, Ole Miss is 7-5, we are 9-3.
They beat us head to head, twice.
They advanced to at least the semis of the SECT.

If Alabama loses today, we still match up well against them, in my opinion.
AL has an RPI of 60, we are 57.
against the top 50, AL is 0-5, we are 3-5.
against the 51-100, AL is 8-2, we are 6-5.
SOS for AL is 143 we are 47.
Last 12, AL is 8-4, we are 9-3.
They beat us head to head, 2-1.
They advanced to at least the semis of the SECT. If they win today, however, they are probably in over us, due to making it to the finals.

We are ok as long as only one of those teams steals a spot from us. I think ole miss is going to win and steal a spot and that is ok as long as everyone else loses. If all 5 games break our way then we are in.

If ole miss doesn't get in I will be shocked. Imo it may take a miracle for us to get in.

I think it is now over for us thanks to Mizzou choking last night. I think Florida, Mizzou, and Ole Miss get in now and Alabama too if they beat Florida.
