Bush: Fight Against Extremism Is Crucial

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Broadening his defense of the war in Iraq, President Bush said Tuesday that withdrawing U.S. forces would allow the Middle East to be taken over by extremist forces and put the security of the United States in jeopardy.

"I want our fellow citizens to consider what would happen if these forces of radicalism and extremism were allowed to drive us out of the Middle East," Bush said to thousands of veterans at the American Legion convention. "The region would be dramatically transformed in a way that could imperil the civilized world."
Bush got a friendly response from the veterans group in his second major speech in a week seeking to buttress support for the war. "America will not abandon Iraq in its hour of need," the president said.

Thoughts?

Not to burst his bubble but the region is already taken over by extremist forces and the US is already in jeopardy. I'm not sure if he's up on current events but Hamas, Fatah, Islamic Jihad, Al Qaeda, Hizbollah, Kurdish rebels, etc. etc. are already there controlling events.

Biblical prophecy happening right before our eyes. Irregular climate/climate changes, natural disasters occuring more frequently, a shift in world focus back to the Middle East.

Bush invaded Iraq because he thought they had nuclear weapons, while Iran was secretly planning to develop a nuclear bomb. Iran knew the U.S. military was stretched too thin, to stop their nuclear program after the Iraq invasion. Great leadership on another issue by Bush.

what about all the other leaders that supported the invasion of Iraq?

There's only one President with the ability to actually send troops into combat. The others may have supported it but it's ultimately one man's decision that resulted in the invasion.

Why do people only think WMD's are nuclear?? They include biological and chemical as well. Whether or not Iraq had WMD's, it still remains the fact that Hussein ignored UN resolutions for over 11 years and Iraq got bombed by the US at least 2 times after the Gulf War because of this. How far did Hussein have to push the envelope before he was considered a "real threat"?? He's gone, get over it, and we are gonna help rebuild their country just like we have countless others before now.

So Hussein had WMD's and instead of using them on the U.S. troops invading his country he decided to hide them to make Bush look bad? Troops trying to hunt down and kill Hussein and his sons?

I don't think this a "war" in the classic sense where Congress must approve it. Please feel free to correct me where I'm wrong because I'm basically thinking out loud right now. Doesn't they have to be some sort of approval, as part of the checks and balances, even if it is a "police action" or whatever this is called?

So he didn't have them and that is why he refused to cooperate with the international community and was interested in being invaded by a superior force which lead to his removal from power and death.

my best friend went to iraq after he graduated from west pt. he said there are weapons of mass destruction buried all over iraq, and that he's seen evidence of this. the media has a nice way of making it sound completely diff then what the men and women who go over there say.

The climate is always changing. Are natural disasters occuring more frequently? The world is always focused on the Middle East.

Since the creation of Israel there has been a greater focus on the middle east. After WWII the middle east has basically been the focus ie Oil and peace.

Also the zionist movement with more Jews going back to the Holy Land is a key factor after the diaspora of the Jews that occured around the 8th-6th centuries. If you read a Bible it talks about Jews going back after being spread out throughout the world.

For the first time in centuries Israel finally has the highest population of Jews with the US second. Jews have been leaving Russia and other eastern and western Euorpean states and very large rates.

Again it can be found in the Bible.

jzvol, do you think that the end of the world/return of Jesus will happen in your lifetime?

Yea I really do. Trust me I'm no expert, but from everything I've read and listened to there is no more prophecy that needs to be fulfilled for Christ to return. The only thing left is for a peace agreement between the Jews and Arabs. There are agreements but they are very weak, and need to be strengthened. The role of the antichrist is to stregthen any peace agreements between the two sides and create an actual peace. Once that happens after a time he will turn on the Jews along with Russia and others to destroy the Jews at the battle of Armageddon.

Also there will have to be a "fall" of America, so that pretty much sucks.

But yea I think the stage is set. Since Christ ascened into Heaven we have been in the "end times" and every generation thinks he will return in their time.

There are just so many things technology wise and politically (European Union and the Euro) that make an antichrist type possible.

Can't wait to hear how many people on here call me nuts.

I actually totally agree with you. I'm waiting for Russia to bomb Israel and then well i'll be waiting I guess. Here's a que. for you. Do you think that the ones that are alive when this happens will go to Heaven after or at the beginning of Armageddon? Ya the fall of the states does not make me feel very comfortable right now
