Butch confirms Dobbs was only QB available

Kinda does make you wonder what would've happened if he had both options.

And I think, all things considered, Dobbs has done an excellent job thus far, having to play against the competition he has so far. I'm excited for this young man's future.

maybe not excellent but...for me he has played better than expected. He has made some bad decisions and coughed up the ball on a run but that is not shocking coming from a typical Freshman QB. The difference between the 3 QB's we have seen this year is that I see loads of potential in Dobbs where the other two only seemed to have what they were showing.

Don't know of any other freshman that's faced three top ten teams in a row.

He threw multiple touchdowns. His receivers failed to catch them.

^This! I don't think anyone can deny that a few more catches and a little better line protection would have made the MZ and AU games a little more respectable! :banghead2:

The goon squad claiming that Dobbs hasn't done well this season are out of their minds. Is there any other true freshman QB in the entire country whose first three games as a college football player have been against three consecutive Top 10 opponents, starting with the No. 1 and very likely National Championship-bound team?

Now, that being said, would I like to see some more TD passes from him? Yeah, sure. But to say Josh hasn't arguably done at least as well or better than the injured junior he replaced is lunacy.

That junior led a last second scoring drive (while injured apparently) to beat a top 10 team. Dobbs hasn't done anything remotely close. He's not bad, and will most likely be very good some day, but let's not pretend he's as good as or better than Worley, or he would've been playing already as we've seen with the Peterman fiasco

Not sure why this is surprising to anyone?
Ferguson was the first one to warm up on the sideline during the UGA game but got injured later.
Worley and Peterman were both injured.

Dobbs was our only option at that point. I think he has done fairly well considering the level of competition and the offensive pieces surrounding him.

I should have won the lottery..but the computer gave me the wrong random numbers..

I have high hopes the kid will be good and yes he was tossed in against some top tier competition. I expect an air raid against Vandy.

Led the comeback victory against SC and darn near beat GA. Dobbs has shown he can make plays with his feet but that is all. Of course he could have a break out game against Vandy and change my mind but right now Justin is still our guy...end of story.

agree that excellent is a bit of a stretch

There - was able to cut and paste - so easy a caveman could do it. :)

Yeah gotta say that anyone who doesnt think that Dobbs hasnt way outperformed any legitimate expectations of a 3-4 string true freshman QB who gets thrown into the arena against 3 top 10 teams in a row in the middle of the season - is flatly out of their gourd. Had the receivers actually been able to catch balls that were darn near giftwrapped, his stats would be better. Is he making rookie mistakes and some turnovers? sure. But he does have legs and an arm and even sells the handoff better. Makes an opposing D work a lot harder than anything we have presented in a bit.

So you going to compare a freshman to a junior? OK!
