Butch Jones bracelet Bible verse

If you really want as many people as possible to live good Christian lives, do yourself a favor and don't try to convince anyone. You would be doing a much greater service than you are doing now. You go about it entirely the wrong way. And are acting like the epitome of what turns people away.

Try using it to make people feel good, not grind them down. Most people aren't going to respond to the things you're saying very well.

This was a good read. It'd be nice if people focused on love, tolerance, acceptance, and other positive attributes of Christianity rather than fear and condemnation.

29+ Evidences for Macroevolution: The Scientific Case for Common Descent

Level of support for evolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are many scientific and scholarly organizations from around the world that have issued statements in support of the theory of evolution. The American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world's largest general scientific society with more than 130,000 members and over 262 affiliated societies and academies of science including over 10 million individuals, has made several statements and issued several press releases in support of evolution. The prestigious United States National Academy of Sciences, which provides science advice to the nation, has published several books supporting evolution and criticising creationism and intelligent design.

There is a notable difference between the opinion of scientists and that of the general public in the United States. A 2009 poll by Pew Research Center found that "Nearly all scientists (97%) say humans and other living things have evolved over time – 87% say evolution is due to natural processes, such as natural selection. The dominant position among scientists – that living things have evolved due to natural processes – is shared by only about a third (32%) of the public.

I have a crazy evolutionary question that will probably be the one that gets the thread moved. If homosexuals are born homosexual then how has the natural selection process not eliminated the occurence of the gene. I would think that over millions of years the frequency would be about the same as albino elephants.

Nothing to say about the evidence he presented? Just gonna throw out a hypothetical and be on your way...

Your question actually strengthens the evolution theory - Hermaphrodites are a good example. Humans for the most part do not carry both sex organs. But the female of the species does contain an organ resembling a penis. This genetic trait has been passed down but not completely gened out.Give it time. Evolution is happening around us everyday. Just take a look at the American populace. As we have become more prosperous with more idle time, we have become a more sloven, unfit society. Basically fat simply because we don't have to expend as many calories to gather food.

I can't believe somebody actually liked this post. Evolutionists are united in facepalm.

Many,eh? You're keeping tabs on their numbers? And for what? There are MANY nutjob liberals and atheists out there....but I don't make it my life's mission to point them out, and make snidely remarks about Liberalism in every thread that may have a political element in it.

I know you bashed volallen for calling people who disagree nutjobs. However, the post above shows you share that tactic. Don't throw stones . . .

And why do liberals and atheist get lumped together? What if I said "republicans and pedafiles are . . . "?

HFS.....this thread sure went to hell in a hurry. Can I be the first to nominate this for a move to the religion forum??

Joshua 24:15King James Version (KJV)
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Well, most of this discussion has been about hell and condemnation, but hasn't been directed at anyone. I believe the discussion (although it probably doesnt belong on a football forum) is a relevant to christians,,,, I was really surprised that a few christians dont believe in hell period WOW (not being hateful just didnt know that belief was out there). Your right though, as Ive stated before, scaring non-believers will hellfire is not the way to go, but I dont think this is what was done here. Just debating God's existence and Hell's existence, whats the deal?
:salute:

So, if this thread is STILL staying alive, maybe we as VOLS should change the thread a bit and respect what the thread was originally started for (not a evolution vs creation debate or a hater thread). Everyone start posting your favorite verse,,,, starting NOW!!

I think its best to keep seperation of church and VolNation. Its just going to cause more mind numbing arguments.

Think left and think right and think low and think high.
Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!

Arguing with avowed atheists is never a good idea. They don't believe in anything, and you can't disprove a negative.

It's a lot like beating up the special ed kid in class....it can only make YOU look bad.

Amen brother. The Lord was all about Love in his teachings. I don't remember reading any scripture where Jesus talks about a fire hell. As you say, he focused on love, tolerance and acceptance.

I think that is why he was supportive of the "Eunochs", as they were referred to in New Testament times. Jesus never spoke out against the Eunoch lifestyle or called them sinful. He just wanted people to love each other.

Like I said earlier, I thank the Lord for blessing me with the kind of woman I was looking for. I wish everyone the same happiness.

Based on your comments, I question whether your notion of 'love' is in the same context. It's sounds very revisionist with a hippie Jesus, and not the one of the Bible. Jesus didn't focus on tolerance and acceptance either. He confronted people in their sin, challenged wrong thinking and hypocrisy, but always in mercy. He spoke often of judgment and a fiery one at that.
Not sure what you are driving at with Eunuch?

And yes, he focused on love in the sense of compassion, sacrifice, being selfless, and submitting oneself to God.

Let's just grant for the sake of argument that you are correct. What does it prove about descent with modification? Nothing. Vestigial organs and loss of information does NOT account for the information in the first place. For example, if the human appendix served a greater function in the past, and is now a vestigial organ, how does its loss of function account for the function and the organ in the first place? It doesn't. It is called the fallacy of equivocation. You are using a very general definition of the term evolution (change) to prove a specified definition of Evolution (Darwin's theory/ molecules to man).

Sadly, it's a common argument. A more obvious example would be, "The NFL uniform has evolved (changed) over time. We see evolution happening all around us, therefore evolution (Darwinism) is true.

It appears that science was invented to refute all the evidence of an invisible guy up in the clouds. Just basing this assumption off some posts. It's a freakin' conspiracy.

Actually the scientific method originated by devout men, because they viewed the creation as intelligible. After all, why should a species exist that can intelligently examine and explain nature, as well as his part in it? Just a happy accident.

Let's just talk about odds for a minute. Do you know how many proteins must line up to make a functioning cell? This isn't some arbitrary 'soup' thing btw. Here's an experiment. Take 10 poker chips and write 1-10 on them and place them in a box. Without looking, mix them up, and blindly draw them out. What are the odds that would draw them out in order? Now, do this 20 more times. What are the odds that you would draw them out in order all 20 times?
You have barely even scratched the surface of what must happen to line up proteins to form a cell, the building block of life. And keep in mind that this doesn't even grant atmospheric (and a myriad of other planetary) necessities for a perfect environment to accommodate a viable cell. Oh, and this experiment presupposes proteins as well. Sounds like a miracle too me.
