Butch Jones gets emotional today

The only thing that would have made that better would’ve been Tennessee delivering that beatdown.

After losing to Oklahoma 73-0 Butch Jones outdid 5 star hearts and champions of life with rhe following gem.
"You have to not lose the game to ever win the game". Profound indeed.
His record at Arkansas State is no 5 wins and 20 losses.

Hmm, maybe this foosball coaching isn’t for him!!! Sure looked comfortable smokin that big fatty after beating his former team!! Could always be a door greeter at Walmart or Lowe’s!! A millionaire door greeter what a gig!! Maybe borrrow Henry winklers book coachifor dummies
I’m forever dumber after watching his press conference where a reporter asked him, who’s going to be his starting qb? He said “We have this organization chart, I call it a org chart. Nick Saban spends a lot of time on them. It’s something we did 20years ago. It doesn’t mean anything. It just shows you who’s going to start. We found out you have to have more than 11 players on each side of the ball to play winning football.”
He went on and on. Then said “To answer your question JT Stroud is going to start as qb.”
It hurt my brain. He has no clue what he’s doing or saying.

Same guy who beat Florida and Georgia in the same season. Crazy.

Although that same season he lost to Vanderbilt, so who knows. I thought he would do well at Arky State. Wanted to wish him well but never set well with me him smoking those cigars celebrating a win against a team that was mostly players he recruited.

Probably the end of the line for Lyle, where do you go post Arky State? Most high school programs won't fall for that foolishness

Ark St has some of the best facilities/infrastructure in their division. That school is set up to be a winner in a league where NIL is a non-factor and coaching/facilities rule. Butch will be fired after this season.

That was the thing for me. These are kids. You went into their homes and said "I care about you and want you to play for me." Then you smoke a cigar in their face.

And then he would not even look at another coaching job until the TN payout was complete. In the industry I worked, turnover was part of the deal. But I NEVER took unemployment. It was beneath me. But not for 5 & 20 Butchy.

CLASSLESS!!!!

It shouldn't have also set well with you that he walked out on the team instead of finishing his season.

In his defense, he sucked as a coach so why wouldn’t he take as much as he could? I hear you though. Wormiest dude ever. No integrity.

Was very immature on his part celebrating with a cigar against his former employer
It was unnecessary, he could have kept a low profile during the celebration and shown a little respect to the fans that did support him while he was here, felt like a slap in the face.

I am really working hard at letting go of my anger at Butch. It is hard considering the way he smoked that cigar after the Bama win and they way he didn’t take a HC job until his payout was done. But it’s time to let it go, for our own sanity as much as for his benefit.
He gave us Josh Dobbs and our first wins against Georgia and Florida in forever. Let’s call the balance sheet squared and get on with enjoying the amazing journey we are on with Josh Heupel. Let’s focus our anger at the way we are disrespected nationally TODAY and make some statements. Starting with Florida and USCJr
Florida and USC Jr,
Butch Jones sucks.

I didn’t resent Butch nearly as much I resent Mike Hamilton, Dave Hart, and John Currie. ESPECIALLY Currie . . . Watching that fool put on a staged “mean mug” for the cameras on the sidelines after we lost to Missouri on the road, trying to show the degree of his seriousness and concern was infuriating in light of the fact that we were about 2-3 weeks past the point where it was obvious Butch needed to go. The subsequent debacle that led to us hiring a d@mned Gump to be our HC was more proof of Currie’s incompetence and weakness.

But overall, our ADs from Hamilton onward until now have been disasters. I am glad we have Danny White running the show now.

Never want to think about Butch Jones again.

It wasn't Butch's fault that the AD gave him the contract eventhough I think he is a smoke and mirrors used car salesman.

A couple of things about Butch:

You know it's tough when you are referring by name to other programs you've coached as an example to get over the hump.

He said something that he thought was impressive but I don't think it's something you say out loud. When he brought Cincinnati in Neyland to face Dooley, he was thinking I want to coach here. Not a good look when your thinking that as the visiting coach while your team was on the field. We know what he was saying, but it's like admitting you were looking at your current spouse when she was married and you were with another girlfriend.

Also, if the guy wouldn't have quit on his team in the last season you'd think he had some real conviction about himself.

Dang, he didn't even know his QB's name?
