Look, it boils down to this. Most of the new recruits coming in this year probably won't see much action. bUTch has a system in place that has won 4 championships out of 6 years. If the players buy in to his system and give it there all, we will see good progress made this year. bUTch is a great motivator owes no one a single thing. He make our opponents 'feel our program, our pain, our strength and conditioning!' He will install his program and weed out the ones who can't cut the mustard. We are going to have a new offense with qbs who are having to compete for the job and are hungry. We are going back to the 4/3 which most of our defensive players are best suited for. It is going to be upbeat and exciting to watch. I can't wait for it. I want to see it.

Sumlin is to be judge in a few yrs not now. Anyone who thinks he would have been a better hire 3 yrs ago frankly does not recognize or want to accept the situation UT was in. If sumlin were available this past December then it would have been a good hire. The guy has not proven he can rebuild a program but only take over one. Briles built Houston and the job he has done at Baylor shows how good he (briles) is. Sherman left ATM in way better situation too. Left him Manziel. Manziel is a once in a lifetime player this past yr. unfortuntaly for him he may have peaked. The only thing Sherman could have done different would have been to stay loyal to playing older players before younger ones. Sumlin came in and was able to pretty much not have loyalty to one player. This is one thing that CBJ will be able to benefit from as well.

If anything one can use Houston's 5-7 record this past season to show the type of talent he left there. I don't care who you r but there is no excuse for not leaving top quality c-USA level quality players at Houston. Briles helped bring Keenum to Houston before he left, and sumlin road him all the way to the tamu gig. Now he has no where to go after a few yrs. in a few yrs tamu may stay in the mid pack 7-9 win per yr range. Obviously this isn't considering Saban leaving or Miles. Those 2 would change things up. The sec west though now has some solid new coaches so the mid pack fight is gonna be interesting to watch.

Unfortunately one big difference will be the talent in the back yard. I live in Texas and believe me, Kevin Sumlin is about to tear it up in recruiting down here. He walks into a 5 star Texas HS player's living room and says, "You want to stay here in Texas and compete in the SEC or go play in that no defense conference?" And it is selling!

The sky is the limit for aTm right now if they keep capitalizing on this momentum.

So you're saying that Sumlin would not have been a better hire than Derek Dooley?

Are you sure you're watching the right sport?

We already have 4 4 stars.

Between Bell, North, Lawson, Green, and Alvin K, I think we get to 1 and 6.

would be happy with that. for some reason i see us whiffing on all those guys. jones is taking to many mac caliber players to be in the running for alot of high quality recruits.

Yup watching the right sport. Briles=Program rebuilder. Sumlin=program maintainer. Dooley=program rebuilder. Up to this pt...CBJ=Program maintainer. Its really not that tough to understand when u stop looking at the bottom line as only W/Ls. I know that's tough to do for the regular person, but frankly imho that's what is needed. This is a buisness not just a game.

TA&M did a great job by hiring Sumlin away from Houston, however, TA&M already had some good talent. Remember, this is Sumlin's first year at A&M, he didn't bring all that talent with him. Butch is inheriting much better talent than what Dooley inherited. Are we there yet? Probably not, however, I think Butch will get as much as anyone can out of whatever talent he has and his recruits. Just have to wait and see how the season goes. I hope the naysayers stay away this year.

Dooley inherited a top ten class. Butch is not. The top talent on the team is headed for the league it appears and the O-line will be weaker after next season.

Correct. The cupboard is not well stocked now, and it will totally bare after the 2013 season.

You're saying that Sumlin "maintained" the greatness that Mike Sherman brought to College Station?

Is going from 4-4 and second in the SEC East to 1-7 and dead last what you call "rebuilding?"

Tyler Bray Is Cutler without all that talent baggage. He is stupid to come out this year cause he will be picked no higher than the 3rd rd. Not a big money rd. But , that is what he will do ( Stupid is as stupid does) I am ambivalent- he has talent , but that attitude is a cancer on team morale. What will be , will be.

A&M won 3 games by a total of 10 points, and ended the regular season at 10-2. Do you really think that they would have won those games without Johnny Manziel. Without him, they finish 7-5 at best. Sumlin is very fortunate to have inherited Johnny Football.

I agree whole heartedly....we need a great pickup/game changer
