How about the fake field goal on 4th and 19?
That would have worked if Palardy sets his feet to throw. Threw a weak pass off his back foot. We can thank Pig Howard for blowing another game, with a critical mistake. That's two games, had he not made the major guff, we come away with 2 more wins, rather than losses.

Don't forget Butch was 4-8 his first year in Cincy.

I also havent forgot growing up watching the vols when 4-8 didn't cut it! This isn't Cincy this isn't what was the Big East and is now the Nobody gives a **** conference. the message is simple: give more production and less excuses or gtfo!! About 2 weeks ago I made the post saying we are Vandy with more empty seats in our stadium, I stand corrected the way we played tonight we wouldn't beat Farragut High!!

4-6 plays made the difference.

We came up a little bit short which is disappointing.

We were hurt in our nickle packages by an injury.

Losing North was catastrophic.

Dobbs was just trying to make plays, but needs to learn to throw the ball away.

Wanted to be aggressive in play calling is why he called the fake field goal.

Felt like we played exceptionally well on defense.

Says we have to go back to work to get ready for UK.

Going to go with the players that got us here in the last game, not going to play the young guys.

"Football is a game of inches and we came up a little short"

(that is all, kinda short interview - don't blame him!)

What happened to we got out coached and I made mistakes like having a high school offense, calling a fake field goal on 4th and 19, playing cover 2 on the vandy scoring drive, and not replacing Dobbs?

Don't forget Butch was 4-8 his first year in Cincy.
And with coaching like this...he'll be 4-8 again next year. He needs to reach down and see if he's got a pair. And if he does, then he needs to let Bajakian and Janzek go...then use that big budget Hart gave him, to hire REAL COACHES with REAL RESUMES (Baylor's OC and Stanford's DC). Offer them between 800k-1mill, and they'll come.

Bamer broke out the checkbook and swung for the fences. We haven't. We have tried to bunt the ball. That's why they are where they are...as long as they are. And we are where we are, as long as we have. They have told the media, the big salary to lure/keep Saban's has been the best investment in their history.

Instead we get Hamilton...the program disease that keeps on giving, and the Tales of the Crypt guy (Hart), who isn't much better

Fake field goal- idiotic
Vanilla offense- embarrassing
Defense- played exceptionally well

2 weeks of prep and we look like garbage. Dobbs is a true freshman and it really showed today.

Maybe the offense was vanilla because Dobbs can't normally complete a pass of over 5-7 yards. But dropped passes by receivers also have the same effect.

What about Jancek calling Tampa 2 on Vandy's final drive? Why on Earth would you leave Matthews unguarded...?

Defense played exceptionally well huh?

I'd rather have a defense give up 900 yd's of offense but makes a stand in the clutch than one who plays well right up until it really matters and the game is on the line..and then chokes like they did tonight.

Can't hang this game on Pig when its literally THE WORST game I have ever seen by a UT QB in 36 years. That being said...2 games this year Pig made a play that cost us the game. Sadly he is probably the most explosive player we have. The fumble across the goal line cost us the game though...and the completely unnecessary block in the back cost us this game. Both plays took 7 points off the board in games decided by less..can't argue with that. Freaking terrible.

The defense cause 4 turnovers. Offensive ineptitude turned 4 turnovers into 7 points. That's where the game was lost, not the last drive b

You can't hang this loss on one player. Or, one play. Coaching from beginning to end lost his game. It's not the first.

What did he say that was wrong?
And secondly, you want him to throw himself and his staff under the bus with one of the best recruiting classes in the country? "yeah, we didn't coach well. It has been and will continue to be a problem".
That would be brilliant. Right up VN's alley. I never understand why some people have to hear a personal apology after losses. Write him a letter. You don't stand up there right now and tell recruits that you suck.

The fake FG was a decent call IMO...its a long FG on a cold night...if he misses Vandy gets the ball at that spot...instead he throws an INT and Vandy actually lost yardage and we gained a little field position...so I am ok with that call...

as alread stated...if Palardy plants his feet instead of throwing off balance...we had a really good chance of completing the pass...the receiver was open...

I said it two weeks ago and it's even more true. The Butchisms have worn out their welcome. Now he has to prove he can win. It's all that's left.

total overreaction on that call. Had a friend that said palardy came out at halftime to kick and didn't kick one fg and his punts were going nowhere. Dobbs getting 4th and 19 isn't going to happen and he thought he could catch them sleeping. The defender isn't supposed to be there.

Swafford played well IMO. Not a loss from my point of view

Not a loss given that he was replacing Toney. But he let Krause have those 2 key underneath routes for first downs on the last drive and he gave them 15 yards on the same drive with that stupid ass face mask penalty.

That play summed up how much better a coach Franklin is than Jones IMO. UT couldn't execute it worth a crap. As you said, Vandy player wasn't supposed to be there but he was, defending the play, intercepting the pass.... and he was a freshman.

I think you're overestimating those coaches willingness to leave their programs. I agree with you though. Fans pour tens of millions of dollars into this program, and they continue to give us a second-rate coaching staff in return.

If a QB threw across his body like that, on a rollout for example, you'd say he shouldn't do that...On this, they ask the punter to make a play that a QB would get benched for attempting...and it was 4th and 19!

I'm not saying the call for a fake was a terrible idea, but that particular call wasn't good. AT ALL.
