And you know this how? Have a friend that is a personal acquaintance of elder Mr. Haslam.

1. Gruden never a target....smokescreen.
2. Jones number one target.
3. Strong number two.

Flame away, I don't care. I believe him, you don't have too.

I just read in an article where Hart thought Strong was hired before he ever talked to Jones.

That's funny I haven't spent any time around you and I can tell what type of person you are for making such a baseless statement like you made above! You must be an insider in the UT athletic department! Lol! Either that or you are so naive as to believe everything you read on message boards and then regurgitate it as fact.

Dude are you serious?Did you even follow the coaching search?Because what he said IS what went down!Hart got lucky with this hire and I'm glad he did.Does that make Hart a good AD,no!

First, my name is not dude. Second, read the point of my post ... I think you have a difficult time with reading comprehension. Beyond all that, let's get back to the subject of the post and quit bashing Hart with a bunch of rumors which I know are not true. You negativity serves no useful purpose unless you are a troll.

Butch made a joke about being his wife's third choice. He was the 5th choice if I remember right.

BOOM!

I stand by my put that Jones AND Strong were at the top of the list with Jones one. Gundy was as real as Gruden.

If I had to bet my life, I'd say Butch was the fourth choice...since I would never make such a demented wager...I'll go with your number...Butch was the #1 choice NINJAS...PROVE US WRONG...youwontbeableto...hahahaha

How?

The only 2 coaches that were offered were Gundy and Strong. Gruden was never offered or talked to personally.

Where do you get 5th?

Most theorists think Fedora turned down a chance at an interview...so if that counts as an offer...that would make Butch a fourth choice...I think if Hart had interviewed him..he would have offered....the only other candidate that would have made Butch a fifth choice would have been Gruden...those guys hang out with the mensas that think the first lunar landing was faked...that last statement sounds familiar...I might be plagiarizing...I need to be punished

The bottom line is Jones is here. Whether he was the 1st choice or 5th, he seems to be making the most of the opportunity by unifying the fan base, recruiting his butt off, and getting buy-in from the players.

That's all we can ask for in May.

I am going to agree with Boca vol just because he has a big green egg for an avi.

1. Gruden was never coming.

2. Gundy's interest was a smoke screen for a raise. Gundy was at least more obvious in his use of UT for a step up than Strong was.

3. I (yes, just me based on what I was told) believe that we knew going in that Strong wasn't leaving Louisville. Strong never made a strong indication that he was interested in UT publicly. I am certain that the powers at Louisville told Hart "you can talk to him, but we will beat anything you offer". They even stated this publicly after it got out that we were showing interest in him. Ergo a contract for Strong that is absolutely ridiculous at his level. I personally didn't want CCS. Glad he stayed at Louisville. Glad we could help him get a raise.

4. The only real candidate that had expressed ANY real interest in UT was Coach Jones.

If you choose to believe that Gruden was a rejection of UT, Gundy was a rejection of UT, and Strong was a rejection of UT, I can't help you. Coach Jones was the first and only "real" offer to come coach. Of the first three the ONLY one that even had a FAINT interest in UT was Strong. He would have been stupid to leave Louisville, he knew it, and we knew it going in. People in Hart's position don't get there by being stupid. I am fairly certain that he knows a little bit about what he is doing. I am certain he knows more than the posters on VN.

Gundy almost came here. There was an article about it.

Gundy didn't have a commitment from OSU like Strong did. I don't think he was ever real. He had to show interest to get interest from OSU's AD. I'm not arguing or being pigheaded. I just think that Jones was the only "real" target on Hart's radar. I think he knew it too.

What would the VN reaction have been if he had gone after Coach Jones right off the bat? Not that Hart would care, but I think the fanbase would have had a conniption. I think Hart played the fanbase just right and got who he wanted to get. I am willing to bet that Hart doesn't care what our local "Bran" expert thinks about him, he got the guy he wanted and got Coach Jones with a minimum of fan opposition.
