Smart is not the word Id use to describe Butchs actions. If anything it was borderline criminal the contract our AD signed over to him. Cant blame him for taking advantage of piss poor administrative choices.We fired him. He owes Tennessee nothing. Learning from Nick Saban while collecting the buyout that was rightfully his was smart on his part. Again.. We fired him.
UTAD should have stopped paying and raised willful underemployment as a defense if he tried to sue. It was suggested that this strategy would make future hires more difficult, which I doubt. It was also suggested that Butch knew where some bodies were buried and once we breached he would be free from any reciprocal duty of confidentiality, which I can believe only because I assume every SEC staff breaks rules and gets away with much more than they get caught for (except Fulmer in the mid-2000s who seemed to get caught for everything).Smart is not the word Id use to describe Butchs actions.
