Buy out the Oregon game now!

No way. I thought we were getting back to tennessee football which means that we don't run from anyone. I would have more respect if they went to autzen and lost by 50 points than if they bought it out. It still makes me cringe to think that we bought out north freakin Carolina and then lost to them anyway in a bowl game even if it was a screw job.

It's like I keep telling the guy. If we don't want these type of challenges, then don't schedule them in the first place.

But never wimp out on your commitments. One time was one time too many with UNC. Now some of our fans want to replicate that example? I can't believe it.

And like I said, that's really what I was advocating. I wouldn't care if we bought out of the Oregon game, but the reality is we'll be playing it. The game is 9 months away and we probably can't afford to buy it out AND pay another school to come here and let us beat them.

Going forward these sort of games will serve only as an unnecessary roadblock on the way to decent seasons. If the time comes when a solid record in the SEC no longer speaks for itself, I would certainly have no problem re-examining the way we schedule. For now, do your talking during the conference season and use the OOC games to add extra wins, get healthy and build depth, just like everyone else in the SEC does.

Michigan
Florida State
Texas
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Washington
Northwestern

These are all teams that SEC teams plates THIS season. They didn't run from them.

SEC teams will play about one solid OOC game a year.

Stop being piss poor cowards....

Wasn't a screw job. Learn the rules. They called it correctly for that game.

Don't understand why anyone would want to see us play 4 cupcakes a year. College football is exciting because of the tradition and pagentry, and it's very exciting to play good teams from out of conference. It would be incredibly boring if we played UAB four times a season for both the fans and the team.

Other SEC teams play decent OOC games, and we have a nice tradition of playing good OOC games. I for one would be extremely disappointed if we do not continue to schedule "name" OOC opponents.

Then don't be disappointed when we get stuck in the Music City or CFA Bowl every year because we continue to schedule a guaranteed OOC loss while everyone else pads their records with cupcakes.

Everyone keeps trying to romanticize these games like they're somehow on par with the UT/ND matchups of the early 90's where two top ten teams were playing each other. That's not what this Oregon series is. They've basically found a way to schedule two cupcake wins, and pay no money for that privilege while we just have to take two embarrassing losses and get to scratch another notch in our bedpost of embarrassment when ESPN shows highlights of Oregon running roughshod over us.

Now i know you're about to say "Were Tennessee we dont back down! We will play anybody!"

But lets be honest Were not winning a championship next year, It will be an auto loss, Next years goal needs to be to get to a bowl game.

And with this schedule, Were not guaranteed to win 5 games.

Austin Peay
Western Kentucky
at Oregon
at Florida
South Alabama
Georgia
Open Date
South Carolina
at Alabama
at Missouri
Auburn
Open Date
Vanderbilt
Kentucky

Auburn will be alot better under Malzahn.

Missour will be better.

Vandy will be good (Despite what alot of UT fans wanna think)

Hell Western Kentucky is not a 100% win IMO

Theres a CHANCE we lose 8 games for the first time EVER.

Call me what you want but for the best interest in this program we need to buy out this game.

Hell.....Why dont we just go ahead and buy out all the games we shouldn't win so we can save some embarrassment and ridicule. That way we can potentially have an undefeated season too. I dont expect that we'll be world beaters next year but dang.
Your also right, We are UT, and yes i think we should play anyone who wants to play even if its at a neutral site. Oh, just because West. KY got duoche bag petrino doesn't mean that we cant win that game or shouldn't. To be honest we should win that game by three TD's anyway. I just dont agree with buying out games we agreed to in contract just to save face. Besides in the immortal words of Herm Edwards " We play to win the game.....We play to win the game".
:salute:

You are a pitiful excuse for a fan.

Maybe Oregon (or Florida) will be to CBJ as Texas was to Pearl in his first year.. nobody saw that coming... maybe i'm dreaming.

I hear CBJ is pushing to buy out the Orange and White this year. Good move...it's a sure loss.

We don't have to sit back and take anything as you put it. We have to, as a program, man up and fix what's been wrong and win some games. Beating a bunch of horrible teams each year does nothing to further the program. Competiting against quality competition does. Scheduling 4 sub-par teams each season, plus playing 2-3 mediocre to bad SEC teams each year on average (ie your average UK, Vandy, Ole Miss, Misouri teams) results in playing a schedule where half of your games are either meaningless wins or embarrassing losses. Sports is all about competition and is something that should be embraced, in opposition to worrying about if we can con our way into playing in the Gator Bowl instead of the Peach Bowl.

college football attendance is bad enough now--loading the schedule with more creampuffs will keep fans away from the game.

Two certainties for those of us traveling to the Oregon game:

1. We will witness a blowout.
2. We won't care as much because the beer out there is soooooooo good.

We should never wuss out! Yeah we will probably get killed but we would have played Oregon 20 years ago. Why back out now?I played Oregon on hard level on NCAA Football 2013 on PS3 today and beat them 42-3 so we have hope.

Yea that's the same...have you encountered pubic hair yet? well it's coming
