very painful for Michigan that Harbaugh is turning them down...ouch. I really hope they don't get Les Miles. Imagine what LSU would be like if they got a coach who knew what he was doing?
Saban left Miami ahead of a lynch mob. Harbaugh doesn't have that problem. Anyone who chooses to deal with recruiting, academics, pinhead boosters, and the whims of 19-23 year olds instead of coaching at football's highest level needs psychiatric help.I don't know Harbaugh personally, so I have no idea if he still feels strongly about Michigan. That being said, if he does, why wouldn't he want to take it? Saban left an NFL job in Miami for a college job in Tuscaloosa. Not exactly an upgrade, but I wouldn't call him stupid for doing it.
If the NFL is that much better, why wouldn't Saban have waited another year and see if he could do improve things? Even if he gets fired, he still would have gotten a great job when he made his way back to the college game. Different sport, but are Tom Izzo and Coach K stupid for turning down NBA jobs when they had the opportunity?Saban left Miami ahead of a lynch mob. Harbaugh doesn't have that problem. There simply aren't going to be that many Saban type hires.one thing to add here about Michigan, I think its a great job - one of the best. But the last big-time job that opened where the school made a huge splash with the hire was Bama with Nick Saban. There is a some strange trend where good jobs are having a hard time finding someone to take it.
