Bye weeks cause trouble!

I, along with a lot of others, would like for it to change and have for some time. While I love the song, itself, I don’t think it exactly gets players or fans excited, locked in, or focused. Frankly, it kinda kills the mood going into the most crucial and final quarter.

Some people liken it to UF's playing of Tom Petty's "Won't Back Down". As much as I can't listen to Petty for weeks after the game in the Swamp every year, it actually makes sense why they do it and it fits the moment. Tom Petty is from Gainesville and was a UF fan. The theme and title of the song are about not backing down; i.e. applicable to the moment. Garth Brooks has zero connection to Knoxville or UT. The "tradition" started because he played a concert in Knoxville. He played 29 other stadiums on that tour. Further, the song itself is not applicable to the moment at all. Again, love the song, but reminiscing and singing about Friends in Low Places going into the Fourth Quarter... misses the mark, in my book.

That said, I do join in singing and will continue to do so as long as it continues, as I’m not one to thumb my nose solely to thumb my nose.

Go Big Orange!
Totally agree. The song makes no sense in the context of the setting and the moment. That people sing along and seem to enjoy it is great. But there are a lot of other songs they would get behind and that would be more impactful, IMO. Almost any of the ones that have been suggested in this thread, for example.
