How does 247 give him that rating when he was originally a 5-star? Did he not perform well at USC?

A decent part of that is he was seen as a potential 2-way player or at least a top defensive guy. They thought he had a higher ceiling on defense.

He's been banged up and stuck under a meh offense, but yes one could say his first years haven't started off in a "5* way".

89 is borderline 4*. That's about what I expected his TR Rating to look like. Also similar or a bit higher than Velus.

None of it matters though. In Hype's offense, everyone becomes a five stah

Payton actually was able to break down and be physical enough to separate from a jam. Hyatt has not done that yet. I'll believe it when I see it but until then he's a slot.

He's got to get past the CB that outweighs him by 15-20 lbs who's jamming him. Payton was able to do that against Bama and they didn't just play off and let him run free. I'm waiting to see if Hyatt can.
