'19 CA LB Henry To'oto'o (Tennessee Signee)

Please stop using 5-7 as an excuse. Butch went 5-7 and had no problem with a top 10 class. Wayna is a Vol because of Georgia's depth chart, Georgia didn't show any love to Keyton early enough, and I bet Crouch lost his spot as Clemson. For Pruitt to be some defensive guru, he sure is having a hard time recruiting the front 7.

"Sigh"

You bet Crouch lost his spot at Clemson ? That is completely absurd ! You lost any credibility at all with that !

If you don’t go to a bowl, it’s still good and if y’all just want to piss and moan then go hop on Clemson’s wagon. Top 10 in overall player average is pretty darn good. Finish like that and I’ll take it. Now, go win 7 plus and keep improving.
Clemson’s the last bandwagon I’d jump on.

Anyway, it is what it is at this point. If your last sentence doesn’t happen, we are in real trouble.

This is from 247Sports' own site explaining how they do the class rankings. They don't do just the top 15 or 20 guys, instead they use a "bell curve" way of doing it where higher-rated guys count more towards the overall score. But the lower rated prospect do count, just not as much.

"In order to create the most comprehensive Team Recruiting Ranking without any notion of bias, 247Sports Team Recruiting Ranking is solely based on the 247Sports Composite Rating.

Each recruit is weighted in the rankings according to a GAUSSIAN DISTRIBUTION FORMULA (a bell curve), where a team's best recruit is worth the most points. You can think of a team's point score as being the sum of ratings of all the team's commits where the best recruit is worth 100% of his rating value, the second best recruit is worth nearly 100% of his rating value, down to the last recruit who is worth a small fraction of his rating value. This formula ensures that all commits contribute at least some value to the team's score without heavily rewarding teams that have several more commitments than others."

Your delusional if you think we want to hear about AL, their problems or successes especially considering how we have done lately. We will find anything that is negative and talk about nonstop on a message board created for Vols fans. You want cordiality? Ridiculous
Before wasting time arguing with someone, I have learned to do a quick check of their post history. Let's you know if they just feel strongly about something that happens to be negative, or if they're just constantly taking up for other teams but not TN.

Mtnvol hasn't been here long, shouldn't take but a minute to look. I'm sure you'll have your answer quickly. 👍

This finish is disappointing and I do think that Pruitt has made some mistakes along the trail (Joseph Anderson comes to mind). But some of the people on here are just looking for any reason to bitch and moan. This is a really good class that address some major deficiencies. We could've signed the number one class and it wouldn't have fixed all of our problems right away. We need about two more classes before we really have repaired the damage done by Butch.

Hell if we could sign 32 we would have a top 10 class too, go back and check how many of those guys he recruited are still here and how many left. Don't matter if you sign a top 10 class if your left with nothing to show for it

Lol the only reason Butchie Boy had a top 10 class in 2014 is because he took 32 guys. And 13 of the top 22 players in that class didn't finish their careers at Tennessee.

People who still defend Butch's recruiting baffle me.

He had some very good classes regardless. We can respect Pruitt's recruiting and Butch's too. Not mutually exclusive.

By average player rating?

Assume thats what he meant. It wont be the highest rated by any means, but maybe the best average. But overly focusing on average can go too far. We want Russell, Cox, etc, but they'd lower our average. But it would make our class better.

Average isn't everything.

If the Vols fans on VN aren't interested in Saban or Alabama, then why do they post so much about them?
Because they’re a team we compete against and are entitled degenerates. If you feel insulted, why do you camp out on another team’s board?

Also the best class we've had since 2009

Longer... the '09 class was stout, but they all either left or went to jail and got kicked off the team. 14 / 21 players left. Eric Gordon, a 4-star corner, quit when Butch Jones was coach.

Marlon Walls and Marsalls Teague were the only two 4-stars to graduate from that class. Nobody was drafted out of TN... though Bryce Brown did play in the NFL a bit.

I’ll agree with you that people shouldn’t defend Jones’ recruiting because it wasn’t nearly as good as so many think. It was no better than Dooley’s before him.

But recruiting services only calculate class ratings based off the first/best 20 in the class, so his signing 32 players wasn’t the reason his class was so good in 2014

lolwut? Dooley's classes topped out at 88.5 averages. Nor were they as good by ranking. 2014-2016 classes well ahead of Dooley's.

Butch also didn't have to recruit against a 4-8 AND 5-7 season, nor did he have to recruit against the growing powerhouse that is UGA, and Clemson wasn't what they are now back when he took over in 2013.

Go back to the FF, moran.
Butch had to recruit against 5 bad seasons. I guess no other schools were good at that time, since Clemson wasn't there yet. Smh at the idiot.
