Our class is good, very good imo. In some spots it’s great (OL for instance). Question is, is it good enough to make up the ground we need to make up to be competitive with UGA, Bama and Florida. On paper, the answer is no. Let’s hope the coaches are as good a developing talent as we all think/hope they are and that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

I think we probably win 8 games next season and that momentum hopefully lands us a Top 5 class for 2020. Coming off of 4-8 and 5-7 you're not going to be able to immediately catch up with Bama/UGA's talent, but top 10-15 classes will (with the right development) get us back to solidifying our spot above the likes of Mizzou/Vandy/UK/USCe. Start there, demonstrate improvement, and the recruiting will pick up when players see we're capable of winning with Pruitt.

Georgia St, BYU, Chatt, Miss St. (Without Fitz and D-line), UAB, Vandy (Without Shurmur) SHOULD be wins at home. I'll throw USCe in there because we almost beat them the last two years and the game is in Knoxville. At Kentucky should be a win also. Thats 8. I'll still count at Mizzou(Even without Lock) and at Fla as losses. Mizzou is much more of toss-up then at Fla. UGA and at Bama are losses, but I expect those 2 games to be more competitive.

Predicting future schedules is a Very inexact science but it is reasonable to expect at least 7 wins in year 2 with a considerably easier schedule than last year. Keeping Coach Fitz is huge and the dividends of that will start to show.

That's what you're not understanding, it seems. You keep talking about Bama, UGA, and UF; last year, we needed two wins to get to a bowl game, and couldn't beat Mizzou or Vandy to get those two wins. Unfortunately, we have to crawl before we can walk; that was the shape we were left in. This class most definitely helps with the crawling, and then some; it helps us get to our feet. If you don't see that, you don't want to.

To add: Going into last season, I had no idea we had fallen as far as we had, even after a 4-8 season. I truly thought it was just players quitting on their coach. However, last year it jumped off the screen at me, just how bad we had become. I saw OLmen that were small and weak; slow skill position players all over the field; bad attitudes everywhere; and quitters. I don't know why I had not noticed it before(?), maybe it's just because I wasn't looking; or, because of Butch, I no longer cared (one of the many reasons I can't stand the dude; before Pruitt, I had grown so apathetic); but, last year, knowing we finally had a coach and staff that could coach, it became so clear to me...along with Arkansas, we are truly the worst team in the SEC. This class is a hell of a lot better than that; where we are, right now, it is a minor miracle, this class. I just finally had to stop thinking about catching Bama and UGA for the time being, and start thinking about catching Mizzou, USC, and Vandy. This class catches them.

Those are the targets, those are the teams you to aim for, prepare for and need to beat, and then the rest takes care of itself.

So while I can certainly agree that this year’s class SHOULD move us closer to beating the also-rans of the SECe like Missouri, Vandy and SCar, our recruiting classes should not and cannot be built and predicated on beating those 3 slappies....the barometer is how much closer are you getting to competing with and beating Bama, Georgia and Florida.
