Our class is good, very good imo. In some spots it’s great (OL for instance). Question is, is it good enough to make up the ground we need to make up to be competitive with UGA, Bama and Florida. On paper, the answer is no. Let’s hope the coaches are as good a developing talent as we all think/hope they are and that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
I think 8 is extremely optomistic. Oline is still going to be an issue especially if Trey can't playI think we probably win 8 games next season and that momentum hopefully lands us a Top 5 class for 2020. I do think if we improve enough offensively, especially on the OLine, we have a chance to knock off Florida in the swamp. Florida loses a lot of production from this past season if I recall correctly but with Mullen, I expect the gator offense to take more steps forward and be solid to pretty good.

This.the answer is no.
but in fairness, even if this class was a top 5 class, the answer would be no. only because it takes more than 1 to really close the gap between programs like UGA and Bama. and it take some development, regardless.
now, had this class been a top 5, it may shave some time off as to how long it might take to bridge that gap. but it wouldn't have done it on it's own, no matter what.
this class probably does get you even with or maybe even ahead of, the middle tier.
which would still be progress considering are record against the likes of VAndy, MO, USCe etc....
this class is a big step in the right direction. it doesn't solve all the problems. i'm looking forward to seeing how this class develops.
Georgia St, BYU, Chatt, Miss St. (Without Fitz and D-line), UAB, Vandy (Without Shurmur) SHOULD be wins at home. I'll throw USCe in there because we almost beat them the last two years and the game is in Knoxville. At Kentucky should be a win also. Thats 8. I'll still count at Mizzou(Even without Lock) and at Fla as losses. Mizzou is much more of toss-up then at Fla. UGA and at Bama are losses, but I expect those 2 games to be more competitive.I think 8 is extremely optomistic. Oline is still going to be an issue especially if Trey can't play

How could I miss this....Its been so obvious all along. How could I have been so blind...
Henry To'oto'o has 11 letters & 2 apostrophes.
11 + 2 is 13.
Jeremy Pruitt has coached how many 1st round draft picks? 13.
Those 1st round draft picks include Rashaan Evans of Georgia.
UGA was unfortunately founded in 1785 in Athens.
The real Athens is in Greece.
Greece, home of Alexander the Great.
Greatness is 9 letters.
Henry To'oto'o (11) - Greatness (9) is 2.
"He is committing TO the University of Tennessee!"
Rashaan Evans played for Alabama not Georgia, you're probably thinking of Roquan SmithHow could I miss this....Its been so obvious all along. How could I have been so blind...

That's what you're not understanding, it seems. You keep talking about Bama, UGA, and UF; last year, we needed two wins to get to a bowl game, and couldn't beat Mizzou or Vandy to get those two wins. Unfortunately, we have to crawl before we can walk; that was the shape we were left in. This class most definitely helps with the crawling, and then some; it helps us get to our feet. If you don't see that, you don't want to.Our class is good, very good imo. In some spots it’s great (OL for instance). well, getting to the point of beating USCE, Vandy and MO on a consistent basis again, is a lot closer than continually losing to them.Got no problem with the “walk before you can run” theory, I get it. But perhaps you’re a young fan who doesn’t understand Tennessee’s history and expectations? As Fulmer and others have said for years, decades now......It’s all about 3 games for Tennessee.....Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Those are the targets, those are the teams you to aim for, prepare for and need to beat, and then the rest takes care of itself.
So while I can certainly agree that this year’s class SHOULD move us closer to beating the also-rans of the SECe like Missouri, Vandy and SCar, our recruiting classes should not and cannot be built and predicated on beating those 3 slappies....the barometer is how much closer are you getting to competing with and beating Bama, Georgia and Florida.
I've been a Vol fan for over 30 years, my friend; and while yes, UT's standard is competing with the best, unfortunately, right now, we can't compete with the middle, because we are the worst. Bama and UGA are 1 and 2 right now in the recruiting rankings, coming off playing each other for the SEC Championship, and the National Championship the year before. We are coming off finishing dead last in the East the last two years. As I said, if you can't see it, you don't want to.
