'18 CA QB JT Shrout (UT signee)

* Cal quarterback commit JT Shrout has remained mostly silent since his OV this weekend — telling VolQuest tonight that he's "simply stepping back from things." He apparently went silent on the Cal coaches earlier today though. The Bears offered another quarterback Tuesday, too. It’s unclear when exactly Shrout will make a final decision, but the tea leaves suggest Tennessee is in prime positione to flip a Cal quarterback for the second time this cycle.

He's a project. But...., hes a project that you take a flier on.

Has all the tools you look for. Good arm, quick release, pretty good mechanics, needs to really work on footwork but most Qbs out of HS do as well, and has the size that most programs look for (6'4" 200 lbs +).

If he comes in and puts in the work on the field and in the film room he could be special. Really needs to be coached up and shown how to go through his progression.

Only time will tell.

Welcome aboard Young Man. GBO VFL

Agree. He has a chance if he can put in the work. It’ll be interesting to see what Helton can do with him.

I agree. Low floor, high ceiling IMO

Tonight's news is not a shock even though Shrout has been silent since the Tennessee visit.

Cal offering Zach Wilson early this evening was telling about where they felt they were with Shrout.

We are still trying to get ahold of Shrout tonight but he continues to not take calls. But this one feels like Coach Helton has his qb in the class of 2018.

Well he decommitted from Cal and we are his only other "big time" offer so this one is over. Unless he picks Colorado State or Ball State over us lol. Would not be surprised.

:eek:hmy: I've never seen that many interceptions thrown in a season, lol. I'll take one of those "wait-and-see" cards if you don't mind.

Just learned from 247 Sports that Cal commit JT Shrout has decommited.

He is a 6' 3", 190 lb Pro style QB from Hart High in Santa Clarita, CA.

He looks very impressive in video highlights. 247 says that he decommited after his visited Knoxville over the weekend, and the he will most likely sign with the Vols on Wednesday.

Great catch Pruitt!

Vinny Testaverde threw more than this kid in a season once.

No one expects him to start next year. If he does, well, we're in deep trouble. But his film still shows a lot of upside and arm talent. It's worth a chance.

Thanks Jimmy. Should have read page 44 instead of just jumping on 45 and posting.

I’m teasing you of course.
