'18 CA QB JT Shrout (UT signee)

You see there was no answer.

I fail to see why anyone thinks he ever starts here. We have better qbs on the roster and if we don't recruit better qbs than him there will be a riot. I see him backing up JG then whatever 4/5 star we get.
Once again, your football acumen is biased and non existent. Tons of NFL coaches and scout ravr over the guy at all the qb camps with 5 stars who are rated much higher than him.

But it’s all good guys, K Town is the best QB evaluator and knows exactly what is going to happen every game. Glad we got you for free instead of the guys making millions to coach talent and get paid to evaluate kids. Tennessee really should get their money back since we have you.

NFL scouts are by no means the end all be all. Shrout has the ability but he’s a long way from starting for us. Have to hope Helton can coach him up

Agree. But it’s not just NFL scouts. It’s former and current NFL coaches who run camps. It’s former and current college coaches who run camps. But what do they know. We have posters who know 100000% what’s going to happen in a kid’s career before one snap. Can’t believe Tennessee is paying millions to coaches and recruiters when they got posters here that could help.

Well look at the UA/UGA/OSU model. Talented kids at qb asked to play within a system and manage. Each in a different way, but it can be done

Certainly not saying it can’t be done, just that to predict that the kid starts at some point as a freshman is fairly wild speculation. Too many unknowns before he even steps on campus. Let’s at least see what the reports are on him once he has some practices, even a scrimmage. Love his physical talent, just pointing out that physical talent for a qb is only a fraction of the equation.

I certainly hope so. Although its looking less likely with the class Smart is putting together. The guy is out recruiting Richt and is a better coach. Thats scary.

You have to understand that some Vols walk around with orange glasses. They would pick the Vols over the Patriots:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::crazy:

PS. I HOPE the Vols win always, but would not put any money on it.:good!:

Was at the game last night with a few clients. Bumped into a reputable scout that I knew growing up. He covers most of SoCal these days. We bs'd about Tennessee and how much it sucks to be a fan recently. Talked about Schiano, CJP, Recruiting, etc. He said the new staff will undoubtedly get us players we would have NO shot at the last 5-10 years. He said a few BIG TIME '18 and '19 SoCal kids (he didn't name drop) are talking with Tennessee strictly because of the coaching change but he focused on JT Shrout.

Long story short, Shrout appears to be the dark horse in this recruiting class. Said, he has tremendous upside if he gets proper coaching. He hasn't been developed, is extremely raw, and doesn't have a lot of experience. Will not be a day 1 starter, but emphasized that the scouts and NFL guys that are impressed by him are entirely correct. More or less, if we can get him some proper coaching and he keeps the work ethic and level head he has demonstrated, he has the potential to be a big time contributor and big time NFL prospect. Has all the tools to be a transformative QB for the program, but he won't be a Jake Fromm type in terms of immediate impact.

UGA has 3 5* QB's. We have a 4* and 2 3*'s. Who do you think is going to win the UGA/TN game the next 3-4 years? We need a great QB in the 2019 class.

you literally have zero idea how they will turn out though. hell one of them is coming off a major knee injury already.I think they will be right back into the mix heavy in 2019. But they are losing a ton off this team going into 2018. I mean a whole lot.

I love the idea of the raw talent being coached up by our coaches (real coaches, not former failed head coaches)! Excited for the future under Pruitt.

Agree wth that eval. It's pretty obvious by his highlights he has elite level talent ceiling. Also obvious by his interception numbers he needs work. That's why coaches are paid the big bucks to actually do their job

That doesn't decide who wins games. Mayfield was a walk-on, Kelly Bryant was a 3*, Josh Rosen was a 5*, Kyle Allen was a 5* and he's horrible. We beat GA with 5* Eason at QB. That is the furthest thing that will decide who wins those games.

Obviously there are always exceptions to the rule but it's a pretty solid indication of talent. This is just from the 2017 NFL draft..

Of the 253 players that were drafted, 99 of them were former five or four-star prospects according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. That means 39.1 percent of the prospects drafted over the weekend were players the recruiting industry deemed future impact players.

Considering that there are 32 five-star prospects and just over 300 four-star prospects each cycle compared to well over 3,000 a year of the three-star and below variety, the pool the five and four-star prospects comes from is considerably smaller yet makes up a significant chunk of those drafted.

The guy showed he has the it factor at the end of the SC game. Threw a beautiful pass and Brandon Johnson dropped it.

Showed that it factor in the LSU game when he was hyping up his terrible offensive line that was getting him killed. He’s a leader

Showed that it factor when he almost threw a Hail Mary to beat KY.

JG is going to be AIGHT

IF JG throws the ball when he breaks the route its a damn touchdown. smh He held on to the ball to long to the point where the Db had time to react to the ball. If he throw the ball when he break the route its a td

Shrout will start sooner than most think.

IF Johnson catches the ball that hit him right in the hands it’s a touchdown

It's like people in our fanbase don't realize how good of a run Tennessee has had with West Coast QB's that came here out of high school.

Casey Clausen
Erik Ainge
Tyler Bray

Shrout can sling the ball. We haven't had that since Dooley Years!

Unfortunately for us, UGA has the rest of the 4/5 star team to go with it.

PS. Us beating UGA with Eason was pure luck. Heck we should be so lucky to get Eason.

Great post. Agree completely.
