Shrout has measurables behind his rankings with terrible results
Penix might not have the same impressive measurables but he shows excellent results.
You can't measure "IT" for QBs and the results show his kid doesn't have it
i think most agree with this line of thought. but it's not yet known what QD may do. he may transfer, and not want to sit out his Sr Yr as a back up.I guess I may be in the minority but I think 3 scholarship QBs is fine for one more season, especially if everyone thinks we are going to be a 6-6 team. Let the staff fill out the rest of this class and give them next year to go get the guy they really want.

We dont know that well have 3. Hinges on whether Dormady transfers. Kinda delicate.
His last game stats:
13 of 48 passing
.271 Completion %
3 Tds
4 int
totals for last 5 games:
57/133
.430
7 tds
9 int
Assuming these are all his passes and not a backup at any point.
i cant get very excited. I do see he has some good things going for him but just don't see anything to make me go "all in"
Yeah, I mean a guy like Seth Washington just cannot be the 3rd QB with this offensive line. I mean adding a scholarship-worthy QB if Dormady leaves is practically a must.
I hope no one gets too excited over Graduate Transfers, either. I mean Malik Zaire was just stellar this year.
Grounding rules a lot stricter in high school. No tackle box. How many would be legal throw aways in college? Also if he is throwing to a spot , how many are on the receivers not being there? With that many throws, where is the running game to balance things out? Lots of reasons , most could be corrected.Thats still a ton. I really dont see the fascination with this kid. But I dont pretend to know how to evaluate QBs.

The film, (highlights), shown are from 2014 and JT was a freshman then. Have to admit that they looked good but then again that's why they call them highlights. JT didn't win the starting position as a HS QB in his senior year. It's very safe to say that he is a real "sleeper.
1st thing UT needs to concentrate on is getting physical on the OL. This is essential. I do feel if we clear that hurdle that other things will fall into place. This staff appears to be determined in that area also. I much want to move on past CBJ but it appears he was asleep at the wheel as it pertains to the OL. When it came to "next man up" the dropoff was huge. Then it appears as though we were soft and that's due to a lack of conditioning,IMO. On top of that many feel as though CBJ was attempting to teach a finesse type of blocking technique. UT needs a complete on both sides of the line and this staff seems to be well aware of that.
