Calapari says, "Tennessee is playing better than anyone in the country right now."

He's talking football. The comparison of Pearl having Cal's number was made to Fulmer having Spurrier's number, in sarcasm obviously.

I still think it was more Cal just hates Pearl. Given the results of the two while Cal was at UK while Pearl was at UT, I can't see how Cal felt too threatened. It was only 2 years and 1 of those Pearl was almost dead man walking, so it's hard to tell.

Ok...makes sense now..thanks for clarifying!

No josh, Martin sucks, remember?

He does.

Would you be impressed if Dooley made a bowl game for beating Vanderbilt and Kentucky in his 3rd season?

Me either.

Unless Martin makes it to the SEC championship or Sweet 16, he may as well have backed into the tournament similar to that of Dooley going to a bowl game for beating Vanderbilt and Kentucky. Nobody would be impressed and yet it would have gotten Dooley a 4th year. Win or go home. As of now, I still say Martin sucks. It's up to him prove everyone wrong because he's still accomplished nothing and his track record is proof. Making the NCAA isn't even an accomplishment at most schools. If that's the standard for Tennessee basketball, be prepared to be mediocre. And by mediocre, I mean making the tournament every other year. Exciting!

The difference is classified has always had the far superior talent yet Bruce won a few against him and always played them close. In the case of us vs Florida... We often had the best team and yet lost the vast majority of those games

Ok sorry for confusion. First off spell check changed calapari to classified. I meant to say we won a fair amount in basketball with the inferior team. And compared that to us in football vs Florida. We often had the better team yet still lost to Florida. That's All I was saying. And people on here can debate it all they want... Coach cal would much rather play against coach Martin than pearl

Nobody was debating that. What was being argued was your inaccurate description of the Cal/Pearl history.

It wasn't inaccurate. Pearl had a lot of success against calapari while playing with inferior talent most of the time. I didn't say Pearl had won more head to head. Just that his teams were more successful than many others against coach cal.

What exactly does having one's number mean in your world?

You can't downplay a national title but 3 of caliparis last 4 years have been major dissapointments if I were an all time blue blood program.

You sure about that?

To the best of my knowledge. I've posted drunk a few times, and I've also said I think that would be the best case scenario before, but I don't recall saying "even if he made the tourney he should leave Tennessee on his own".

I'll take your word for it. I'm too lazy to try and find it and I can't remember what thread it was in. It was a while ago after a loss.

You may not have said those words exactly but it was along those lines.

I have said before that the best thing may be for Martin to make the dance and take a job elsewhere because I don't think he can do anything to get full support from the fanbase. That statement was not entirely serious, and somewhat tongue in cheek, but that may have been what you saw.

Of course 'it wasn't entirely serious, and somewhat tongue in cheek'. Or maybe it was because your boy CCM had just been hammered by A&M for a 2nd time and you wanted to slowly back away from supporting him?

Now that they are potentially back in the tourney, it's "well, I was drunk when I posted..."??

Nice

At least be consistent if you're gonna support the guy.

Have I not been referred to constantly as a Martin defender? Now all of a sudden I'm getting accused of the opposite?

Priceless.

Whoa...didn't see this page before I responded. I don't know how to feel about this.
Let me help you out there, Chris.

I said "classic BTO", as in his response to my post was his typical response.
When challenged with a point he knows he can't argue, he instantly tries to turn it into a different argument...and then 3 pages later everyone forgets what they were even arguing about (see his responses a couple days ago when NYC Vol kept hammering him on a topic BTO didn't want to answer).

Your "instant classic" post was aimed at stroking BTo's ego.

Heck...I don't know...on the other hand, maybe I was just drunk when I posted??

There's no point in arguing with a person like you sheep, your username is fitting and is a fair warning to anyone who reads your posts.

Not arguing BTO. Just pointing out an inconsistency in your approach, that's all.

So like I said, I've been called a Martin defender or some other name with a similar meaning no less than 100 times over the past month and yet you're telling me now I'm not a Martin defender?

Which is it?

My stance has stayed the same. Make the dance and he should be back. After the A&M game our chances of making the dance looked pretty slim, so based on the assumption we missed the dance I said a move should be made. Martin has righted the ship it would appear, and has the boys in a spot to make the dance. As I said before the year, during the year, and last week...if he makes the dance he deserves to come back.

My position has stayed the same.

Maybe you are arguing all the time with so many people because you can't keep up with your debates due to drinking. Or maybe because you are drunk. Or hungover.
