California ban on same-sex marriage struck down

I can't believe that people actually believe homosexuality is not a choice. Everything is a choice in this world, especially that. That's why they call it "sexual preference". If it wasn't a choice then it would be called "sexual sicknesses".

Everything in this world is a choice? So insane people choose to be insane? People that develop muscular dystrophies, choose that route? Odd choices.

There's a big difference on who you decide to goto bed with or marry verses getting or developing debilitating illnesses. That's my point, you don't just catch the "gay" bug or get it from getting it passed from you through your genes. People choose to be gay for many different reason and most of the reason that I have heard from people who I know are openly gay is acceptance for who they are and what they want to be. Even the gay people I know tell me they chose who they are with. So if it's an illness or something else then they could get help for it right?? I don't think I have ever heard a gay person say they need therapy for how they are. It's really amazing to me just how out of touch most "experts" are with different things they claim to be experts on.

There is a lot of research being done to determine if homosexuality is biological. To me it seems that there is a compelling case to be made that there is a "gay" gene and that homosexuals are just as "normal" as heterosexuals in that they are driven by their biology.

I wonder just how many of those researchers are homosexual that are doing the studies??

it's being done by multiple studies all across the country. The science backs it up, regardless of the sexual orientation, gender or ethnicity of the researchers.

Anyone that doesn't realize that there are some Gay people that have chosen to make that decision, and some that are "wired" that way, are closed minded idiots.

There are chemical levels inside every human that determines who and when they are attracted to others. Just as I have chemical levels that cause me to be attracted to women, there are other men that have chemical levels that cause them to be attracted to men.

Closed-minded people that say God would never "make" someone gay have no logical reasoning as to why God would make people with defects, retardation, killers, rapists, etc. If God truely made every being "perfect" in his eyes, there would be no evil or sadness in the world.

I never said that God doesn't make people with defects. Mental Retardation and other birth defects are not choices, it's just the way God's natural laws work.

Raping someone is a choice. Murdering someone is a choice. Being gay, IMO, is a choice.

Is someone a rapist without ever raping someone? Is someone a murderer without ever killing someone? Is someone gay without ever having a relationship with someone of the same sex? No...No...Maybe. I think that this is something where there is more than just the act that defines the nature of the person.

BTW, if you are arguing that gays are wired that way, then why do most start out as heterosexuals, become homosexual for various reasons, then go back to being hetrosexual. If they are wired that way it seems as they would start out that way and stay that way. Most of the gays I know started out as heterosexuals and are admittingly gay now or bisexual.

I understand the biological argument and yes I will submit to the fact that some are wired differently, but the fact still remains the same you choose who you lay in bed with. I know people that have acted on something they believe that they are meant or wired to do and after that find out they weren't meant to do it.

You live in a VERY VERY small world.

You chose who you have sex with yes, but you don't "choose" who you are attracted to. You either are, or you are not.

So, that being said, if someone that is attracted to someone of the same sex and they develop "relationship level" feelings with them, then who are you, or anyone else to say that they should not have the same rights as you or me to choose that person to be with, and have the same rights afforded to us when we marry the person we are attracted to and have feelings for.

The sexual acts has NOTHING to do with the Gay Marriage Debate. However, closed minded homophobes always want to bring it into the debate. Keep it simple and look at it as the way I laid out above and tell me why you and me are any better than our fellow man or woman simply because we are wired to be attracted to the opposite gender.

It has been proven that there are rapists and murderers that didnt simply wake up and make a "choice" to rape and kill. There are people that do, sure. Just like there are straight people that make the choice to engage in a homosexual act. But there are also people that are wired wrong from birth that causes them to kill and rape. It is my belief that there are also people wired from birth to be attracted to the same gender and there is no reason in a so-called "FREE COUNTRY" that those people should not have the same full rights as people that are attracted to the opposite gender.

How many gay people do you actually know?? I know of at least 5 people that I have worked with on a daily basis and 4 of those are what you consider gay who were heterosexual and 2 are bisexual. Instead of telling me I live in a small world, how bout you give me some real life dealings you have had instead of telling me about mine.

OK, this is my only post on this... I have no idea if biology is involved. I've heard that, but I've also saw gays turn straight. I think enviroment plays a much larger part than anyone on here has mentioned, but that's me.

Environment and choices play at least 90% of becoming homosexual, IMO. The rest could be wiring, but God doesn't create gay people. He was pretty straight forward about man being with woman and woman with a man.

LOL You really sound so.....oh nevermind.

Does God create hypocrits or do people like you just choose to be that way?

There is no point in having this discussion. I'm not going to budge from KNOWING that God does infact "create" people that are born to have attraction to the same gender, which by definition is "gay".

You think you have it all figured out because you know 5 people that chose to try out the gay thing. That's fine, but you truly live in a small world my friend. Infact almost all of us living in the south are living in a small closed-minded world when it comes to homosexuals and even minorities.

I don't have to explain myself to you or explain how many gay people I know or have known in my life before they died, but to give you some slight perspective, I watched my uncle, a Chrisitan, struggle the last several years of his life with why he was attracted to other men, and why he had made the choices he had made which ultimately led to his death.

Regardless of what you or anyone else says, I fully expect him to be in heaven waiting on us, and I feel very confident that God didn't punish him because of the sins he committed. My uncle should have had every right I have as a straight man, I don't care how many sins he committed.

You still havent (because I know you can't) tell me why you or anyone else should be able to pick and choose who gets marriage rights and who doesn't simply because of the choice of mate they make. But like I said, it's a worthless debate because neither of us is going to budge.

Enjoy life in your little bubble, I hope for your sake that it's burst by one day understanding that there are people out there that deserve every right you have as a straight man, regardless of what they do in their bedrooms with the people they love.

1) Says who? How do you know a gay person had any choice over their brain telling them that they are attracted to the same gender?
2) They can? Every illness or disorder has a treatment? Also, I'd say in the current medical climate that homosexuality is not viewed as a disorder, so kind of hard to get treatment when large numbers of doctors don't think a treatment is needed.

that makes the homosexual suicide rate just hard to grasp. If they people are choosing and going that way, why is it so grueling for many?
