They supposedly are going to take another vote with the fines removed. That seemed to be the issue with a number of the R's.

When will these (R's) ever learn? The democrats would have stopped the vote also. While increasing the fines and bringing it to a vote again.

There’s probably “a sheriff in Texas” that thinks anyone crossing the border illegally should be shot on sight.

That one Congressman said it could be used in future against conservatives. I hate to see it, but hell, they will probably use it now anyways. I hate getting in the dirt, but it seems necessary now. The Russia stuff was such a rubicon and now what we are seeing today. It sucks it has to be this way.

Personally I vote for bringing back canes, spittoons, and duels; and no backfilling when somebody is taken out. Seems like it might lead to a better class of congress critters. Some might even be smart enough to know when they are too old and feeble to participate because there's at least one currently who should have been dealt the congressional form of euthanasia.

So when you start seeing guys from there criticizing these ploys and saying they are illegal, it shows that there is likely legal exposure. A Texas sheriff would be shut down by the legislature if he tried to do anything, but that's not going to stop a blue state governor from doing something.

It's really sad the way the right wing takes joy in using people whose only crime is trying to find a better life. They laugh and revel in using these people as pawns. And yet they're the first ones to raise their arms to heaven and claim to be follows of Jesus. Be honest, who do you think Jesus would minister to if he were here today, you or those refugees? Hint: It ain't going to be you.

There was a thread here 4-5 years ago about the decline of San Francisco. Many of the lefties here spent a lot of effort protesting that it wasn’t true.

I used to have to travel there frequently and watched as it started sliding backwards. Streets that were once busy and safe to walk turned dangerous in a matter of a few years.

The city had so much going for it. It’s the prime example of a city ruined by liberalism. It’s undeniable.

The only part of SF that I ever liked was Chinatown and even that was a long time ago. I found the people unfriendly; restaurants subpar, crowded, snooty, and expensive; pretty much the same with hotels. The last time I was there was a trip up the west coast with my son in early summer while he checked out universities for grad school - he wanted to see Haight-Ashbury; that was somewhat interesting. I'd said many times that SF was cold and damp, and not what people made it out to be. The day before SF we were around Paso Robles and it was over 100 degrees. We got out of the car in SF and went back for jackets. He said "I understand now."

How about the aiding and abetting of illegal immigrants in traveling from the border? You do know that is a violation of federal law.

Sounds like DHS would be in violation too. They cover travel, shelter, and food expenses for illegal aliens once they’ve crossed the border.
