California Lunacy Thread

There is audio of Biden bragging about what all he is doing for wildfires. I'm sure Google has scrubbed and taken that down or will make it hard to find.

There are ample opportunities out there to mock and deride DEI - this ain’t one of them.

DEI didn’t mismanage the forests.
DEI didn’t block water storage projects.

It was nothing more than good ole fashioned White Liberal busy bodies at work.

2 billion budget for fire between LA City and LA County....

.0005 of the budget isnt what caused this....

It’s not like the Santa Ana winds are a new phenomenon or them reaching 100mph is unheard of.

Only you can prevent forest fires.

It always feel good to dispel short sighted arguments. As mentioned these winds are not new. The vulnerability has never been addressed due to misguided leftist activists focused on other things and feel good environment naivete.

what I was expecting...arson....

LA Mayor needs to go too...all state Congress people need to resign...

Definitely in play. The Hollywood Hills at night is questionable.

Believe we are seeing the end of the Newsom reign of California. Desantis is a phone call away if he wants to know how to handle natural disasters.

And hurricanes happen all the time. But there is a difference in categories

But "this one is not typical," Wofford says. This time, the Santa Anas are coupled with "very strong winds in the upper atmosphere. In addition to funneling through the mountains, they went up and over the mountains and then they descended down into the basin area," he says.

The result is wind gusts as high as 100 mph in some places, he says, adding that the current dry conditions mean, "everything is just primed and ready to go" for wildfires.

Air quality in Denver was badly affected by wildfire smoke from blazes in Oregon and provinces of western Canada on July 24, 2024.

I get it that 100mph winds are unusual but that has zero to do with the years/decades of mismanagement and poor planning. Sure even with competent leadership and management the situation is ripe for a bad fire but due to negligence they turned a bad situation into a catastrophic one.

Libs won't recognize it. He'll get no credit in their eyes....because Trump.

As if you'd be lauding George Soros for something like this.

And besides, we're too distracted by all the conservatives in here dunking on LA/CA to fully appreciate that Musk is providing internet.

Maybe not. Google just donated $1million to Trump's inauguration. They are trying to keep from getting hammered under the new administration and propping up Puddinhead won't go unnoticed.

There is always going to be some element of mismanagement to point to. We've had bad fires in Utah and AZ, and we have more the kind of management people are looking for (controlled burns, etc.). **** still happens. Hell, the Smoky Mtns got ****ed up a few years back, and that's rainforest compared to here.

We don't have the infrastructure or geography they do in CA, and we still have bad fires. I had a friend die in one (fighting it. Seen the movie Only the Brave?). It's impossible to know how much blame who deserves for what, but that's not gonna stop any of you in here with an axe to grind.

Is there a link between dam removals on the California-Oregon border and fires in LA?
No. I mention it to highlight the broader issue of water mismanagement throughout California. Watershed is critical and in removing watershed it restricts what farmers will be allowed to siphon off for crops. It also takes away relatively inexpensive hydroelectric power generation as well, which is planned to be replaced with what will undoubtedly be more expensive mix of alternative energy for consumers to make up for that loss. There’s more to this agreement and has been in the works for a while, but for a state in such dire need of more water, this hardly makes sense other than it placates the environmentalist.

George is welcome to throw as much money at this situation as he would like.
