Callaway/Harris Sexual Assault Case

I hate that I am agreeing with UF fans. These things ought to transcend sport rivalries. It was frustrating to see this with other fans when UT was on the other end of it.

Agreed.

And they should have used a different hearing officer. I really don't get that, it just looked so bad.

Now, the other side boycotting... I'm not so sure how wise that was, either.

Says the girl admitted in text messages that she wasn't drunk, she was just pretending to be drunk.

What the heck is wrong with people? Hello, McFly, your cell phone records are admissible anytime you do anything...

Also a video of her telling AC she likes to smash after getting faded.

You will quickly learn that this does not matter.

At all.

And is in fact considered "slut shaming" and will only come to bite you all in the a$$. I really don't see how UF is so dense about this.

Looks like the lawyer isn't even suing the school, that must have been a terrible case, I thought he would sue for title IX in a heartbeat

It mattered for Callaway.

They won't come after Callaway.

Do you seriously think this is over? You guys can't be this dim.

And I'm not saying this relative to the UT/UF rivalry. I'm speaking in terms of the Title IX mess everyone is dealing with.

Here, I'll help.

A Title IX suit has absolutely nothing to do with Calloway's guilt or innocence. Rather, it concerns whether or not UF followed all Title IX procedures to the letter when handling the case. And just based on what we know, they would clearly have UF dead to rights there. They chose a booster to adjudicate the hearing- that's a pretty cut and dried violation.

But it probably won't stop there.

Clune has made a national reputation for himself prosecuting these cases. What I would guess is going on right now is that he has operatives working on UF's campus gathering more information. Maybe they'll round up some more plaintiffs for a possible class action suit. And when that suit is filed, it will be "anything goes". When trying a case in the media (as these cases always are) there are no courtroom procedures to abide by. It's the Wild West.

Maybe they'll snag the girl that got Treon in trouble two years ago. Maybe they'll get Chris Rainey's ex (remember "Time to die, *****?). Ancient history? Sure. But that doesn't matter. Remember, they went all the way back to Peyton Manning when filing UT's case. Maybe they can even find someone to make some accusation about McElwain- like, say, he called some player a traitor to his own teammates. Again, it doesn't matter if they can prove it or not. All that matters is that they get it out there in the media.

Huntley Johnson's old "shame the slut" strategy won't help UF this time. In fact, he'll likely be a liability. You can be sure that they'll revisit the fact that he was found guilty in his OWN sexual harassment case, and that he once told his secretary to "Get down on my hog and honk it".

So yeah. This is most likely FAR from over.

It only became an issue in last 24hrs. UF appointed him months ago. This isn't the first Student Conduct hearing he's been appointed over involving UF athletes.

Maybe not, but I am betting it is his last. I mean how can this guy not realize that his status as a donor would not be scrutinized? Even I would have been smart enough to pass it off to someone who is not a donor this time.

Remember all the idiots caught smiling and laughing at the Winston announcement? This is worse. Perception matters.

The young lady has ten days to appeal the ruling. I would think if legal action is coming there will certainly as a formality be an appeal. Her advisor, Mr. Clune, was quoted in the Tampa Bay Times saying there will probably not be any further legal action taken. Will be interesting to see how this develops. I think the biggest issue with the whole deal is there really is no evidence that there was a physical non consent assault. I think the problem the plaintiff had was social media exploitation of the events of that night by Harris.
