Calling MZTERRY

Fact is, your criticism is both classless and pointless. Any coach worth his salt (which I believe ours to be) sees the results of the game as his criticism. CBJ knows things need to change, and he is working to do that. Your BOO is voiced and seconded by whining, self-serving, short-sighted fans with the fortitude of a mouse. And it makes sense that you see it as a valid criticism; you would probably cower under the pressure of fans booing you.

well ok, but what about point 1? Do you think your booing has an impact on the kids although it's directed to the coach? You think Worley, who just threw an incomplete pass thinks, "Oh, they're not booing me, they're booing coach"

I hope they would realize the situation since milking the clock when up late in the 4th quarter isn't a new concept (especially when your running game worked for much of the afternoon)

then why ever fire a coach? They're all just doing the best they can and we should just watch for fun

I never said make excuses for poor performance. Starting positions and coaching jobs are fluid based on performance. There's a classy way to go about it and booing has absolutely nothing to do with getting a coach fired or getting the backup QB to play.

I've never stated I wanted CBJ fired. I like what he's doing but some of the decisions he's made are puzzling to say the least. I feel expressing that is fine

See, you just did. And you didn't:

  1. Demoralize the players
  2. Hurt recruiting
  3. Make us look like a bunch of idiots on national TV.

Nothing good ever comes from Booing your team.

It might however encourage a player to later say he took money and tell recruits to go somewhere else.

Can you say Foster?

The only times I've ever really booed at home games is when the coaches didn't have the balls to go for a 4th and short when we really needed it. I. Think at that point there's no doubt in the players mind who is being criticized....they don't call the plays.

Past that I reserve my booing for Carolina Panthers games...we always have terrible coaches. Fire the decent ones (John Fox, George Seifert)...

I feel the same was as the poster above...I would never boo my kid. Regardless of circumstance. Why would I boo yours? These kids get paid exactly as much to play for UT as my kid does to play rec league. ZERO. Millionaire pro athletes are fair game. 18 year old kids who have been getting their butts handed to them thru a coaching carousel are off limits IMO. TIFWIW... HUBANegavols

I was speaking more to the general nature of booing. I have no problems with expressing displeasure with various aspects of the state of the program, but boo-ing is a classless way of doing it.

It's wasn't directed at coaching or play- calling..... it was directed at a player specifically.

I totally agree with MZTERRy, booing players of any team is patently wrong. Booing is certainly understandable in certain circumstances i.e. bad calls by refs. But to express that sentiment towards one of your own who is doing their best during a difficult time is uncalled for and classless. Fans should be supportive of effort and not just results. What message do you send to those players we want here in the next few years. I say lets accentuate the positives but continue to work on the negatives. :salute:

Sup Slice. Good to see you bro. God Bless you and yours.

And MZTERRY you are a brave lady. Obviously the Lord keeps you humble enough to have thick skin and long patience. Thank Jason for the true Vol fans. We pray for him and the team and jump off our seats every time he lights it up. Proud of that guy. GBO VFL

The South Alabama game was, under no circumstance, on national TV.

And, additionally, I can assure you that if people are making comments about the UT-USA game... it isn't about the crowd.

If I criticized my boss It would hurt my career. If I criticized a VN mod I'd get put in time out.

Should I show less respect to my University football team?

The damage is still done even if I don't feel it personally.

Booing demoralizes our players, energizes the opposing team, and accomplishes nothing constructive. But thanks for letting us know you're experiencing displeasure. That is SO important to us.

I can't stand the booing either - maybe in professional sports in some extreme circumstances, but never in college.

I was at the 1993 game against Vanderbilt. We were winning 48-14 in the 4th. Fulmer called a run play on 3rd down, and the boo's rained down mercilessly. Fortunately for our bloodlusting Thunderdome fans, we scored two more touchdowns to pad the beat-down.

being put in a position where S Alabama has enough time to drive the length of the field to tie the game should be demoralizing

Nothing screams pure idiot like the goofs that boo when we run a draw or screen on 3rd and 25.
