Calm Down: This is a Very Good Team

I am looking to see how the team reacts. It can go two ways: fall apart or come together and have a great run the rest of the way. The season is far from lost. I'm not defending the coaching staff's inability to build a culture that seizes wins in the clutch, but I'm not giving up on the team either.

I said this in an earlier thread - we had a HUGE strategic opportunity to put UF at 0-2 and deal their program a serious blow. Just like last year when we extended SC and Vandy's season by giving them the wins they needed to go bowling rather than sitting at home, we failed miserably.

Oh well. Gotta build a winning culture. We don't have it yet.

I looked through the schedule and completely agree with this:

Losses:
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky
LSU
Vanderbilt

Win:
UMass

Iffy:
Southern Miss

5-7 best we can do. Hopefully this gets Butch his buyout.

We will likely beat Mizzou. We own UK but that's our only conference wins.

Butch has lost to inferior Gator teams in similar fashion 3 of the last 4 years. At some point, this has to be acknowledged.

Great talent with worst coaching staff in America. Has been since Jones has been here, but our talent has managed to win big games to overcome the sophomoric coaching.

This is a pretty bad team really.

A "pretty bad team" that just put up 442 yds vs a UF defense in the Swamp and lost on a few mistakes, missed kicks, and a Hail Mary?

UT should have won. They didn't. They outplayed UF pretty badly on both sides of the ball. They outplayed UF MORE so than Michigan did.

You can't kill drives with INT's, missed assignments, dropped passes, penalties...

Pretty much owned Florida in the Swamp but for some fixable mistakes.

More offensive yards and 1st downs than Michigan got.
Hoke's DLine much improved.
Kelly a beast.
QD very good with time to throw.
Strength and conditioning impressive -- UF was worn
I like 10-3.

PS. Stop talking about firing people (unless they throw on 1st and goal from the 1 again #petecarroll).

You give an unqualified person the keys to an F1 car to race a pinto. Don't be surprised when the F1 stalls and the pinto wins

While some will realize this is true - those who are always ready to pounce will pounce.

But we will have to put up with this until we beat UGA in two weeks then folks will calm down.

Florida is terrible.

Tennessee is terrible.

Don't kid yourselves.

Gator fans are slightly less pissed

A lot of high level football was played today.
Looked ugly because it was on both sides.
Tennessee's errors fixable.
Florida needs better conditioning.

The OP must be delusional or has had a few to many! This loss is on the coaches, period! We are horrible and so is Florida! Good recruiting the last five years but Jones CANNOT COACH! Soon the players will give up on him! I was a Jones supporter but after watching this game, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, the obvious answer is to say to him YOUR FIRED! Talent does not match game play, geez!

I'm so sick of his coach speak and cliches. Stupid play calling, stupid formations. Butch talks about situational football, well what kind of situation was 1st and goal from inside the 5 that causes you to line up in shotgun and throw 4 times! So stupid. I can't stand him as our coach.

You can't kill drives with shotgun snaps on first and goal from 2 foot line, shotgun on third and inches in field goal range, pass, pass, pass in the red zone when your running the ball down their throats, holding penalties for passing calls on 3rd and inches...

FYP. Coaching cost us that game....not the players.

I totally agree. But good grief... Is there another series in major college football where one team continually finds ways to lose games the way we do against these guys?

The OP is right. This is a good team. A good 8-4 team with upside. 10 wins? Doubtful but this team is young and very talented.

I mean we lose our best players to the draft and then our best O and D players to injury and still could have won.

Take a breath it will be ok.
