Calm Down: This is a Very Good Team

A lot of high level football was played today.
Looked ugly because it was on both sides.
Tennessee's errors fixable.
Florida needs better conditioning.

What high level football?

Florida didn't throw a football past the line of scrimmage or in the middle of the field until the final play. Didn't even attempt to. Two runs that you break into the secondary you fumble on both of them. Interceptions were dropped. The few times you get into scoring territory, you immediately commit dead ball penalties. Screw up accepting/declining penalties.

Tennessee dropped TD's. Kelly was out of the game in certain critical situations. Tennessee also committed penalties when they were about to score. The turnovers.

And to top it off, both teams had the nerve to act surprised when the ball was thrown toward the sideline a yard past the line of scrimmage. How that was open for either team is beyond me.

The play on the field and decisions by coaches were baffling.

If either team were half what we want them to be, this game is a blowout.

What's this week's excuse for Butch? Are we blaming Shoop or Scott to deflect from the HC. Are we attacking the players again while defending the coach? Seriously, what is this week's excuse for Butch getting no blame for us being totally unprepared?

There's no excuse.....BUT..... there's blame to go around for everyone.... coaches and players.

Coaches made some bonehead calls and the players made some bonehead mistakes.

Pretty much owned Florida in the Swamp but for some fixable mistakes.

More offensive yards and 1st downs than Michigan got.
Hoke's DLine much improved.
Kelly a beast.
QD very good with time to throw.
Strength and conditioning impressive -- UF was worn out.

I like 10-3.

PS. Stop talking about firing people (unless they throw on 1st and goal from the 1 again #petecarroll).

Florida is a mediocre football team at best, and they were down key players. We look like a 6 or 7 win team. This"fixable" things are the result of coaches. The coaches haven't fixed themselves yet and we don't have the players to overcome the coaches this year.

Based on what what I witnessed.... 6-7 is max for this team. And I agree... talent is on the field, but is poorly managed.

LMAO 😂
This team may win 7 if lucky.
Soft/Bad coaching staff. CRG is the only Good coach.

I saw the game. It was mostly ugly.

Don't short either of these teams.

I hope I am wrong. I said this before the game in the middle of the week.

These teams are going nowhere. They are not done losing.

Tennessee has played two real teams. They lost one. They won one. Could have lost both. There are teams on the schedule better than the two they have played.

florida has played two teams. Lost one. Could have lost the other. They also play better teams down the road.

It's going to be a long year that is not going to be enjoyable for either of us.

I'm already looking toward 2018. This year is over. It's over for what each of our teams was hoping to accomplish.

I totally agree. But good grief... Is there another series in major college football where one team continually finds ways to lose games the way we do against these guys?

Not that I know of... and whoever said Jones was 1-3 over the last 4 games in this series where HE had the better team... is absolutely right.

I don't know what will happen. If he coaches like UT needs a coach to coach... UT will still surprise some teams. OTOH, if he wins only 7 games this year... his UF record becomes VERY important IMO like Majors' Bama record did.

And you don't understand college football history.

Nobody though of the Gators till Spurrier became the HC. And he's long gone.

Tennessee sure was great in those leather helmet days. Florida has been the more successful program since 1950, unarguably. Three NCs and played for four, and UT has one, and played for one. And Florida leads the head-to-head all-time, among other things.

Regardless, the OP is on some serious glue. Without that goal line fumble that would have made it 20-3 and almost certainly crushed Tennessee's will, I didn't see any "owning" by either team out there. They both suck, and I bet most Gator fans were secretly hoping they'd lose so McElwain would be toast. Dude sucks.

Typical 99gator arrogance. He thinks UF is bad... and so he doesn't believe UT fans have any right to expect their team to be "good".

UT killed themselves with mistakes today. Correctable mistakes. They outplayed UF otherwise. I agree that both teams have played two good teams and that both teams are 1-1 against those teams... I disagree that UT cannot become a good football team this year.

To quote John McEnroe, "You cannot be serious!"

Have you actually WATCHED any UT football this year? Have you WATCHED it any since Jones was hired?

All that said, you really see us being 5-1 when we play Bama?

Dude, lay off the 'shine.

It's not entirely impossible.

You read things I didn't say.

Tennessee should have expectations to field a good football team. I don't know where you keep coming up with this nonsense that I don't believe that.

However, if you "expect" to do it this year with Butch Jones coaching your football team than you are going to be sadly disappointed.

The same can be said for any gator fan that thinks this is going to get better in 2017.
