Cal's comments revealing

Expecting freshmen to play consistently and win by 20+ points against every top-15 team is pretty ludicrous, I'd say...

Wall and Cousins would have either started or played significant minutes on a number of NBA teams this year. Patterson would also have logged minutes in the NBA. And Bledsoe would be on a roster and also very likely could have seen action this year in the NBA.

So, expecting them to do well against a depleted TN team is not unreasonable.

No he's just nowhere near as good a coach, which is why he's never been past the Sweet 16 and Calipari has been to the Final Four everywhere he's coached...

Not if you look it up in record book. Let's say better coach if you play by the rules. How's that, better!!!!:hi:

When they're freshmen, you can't expect them to start out on a 28-2 run every night. Calipari even predicted as much, literally right before the game.

We beat Kansas too. Is Pearl better than Bill Self now?

Cal>Pearl. I won't even debate that. But it seems like you and some of your Pearl-hater friends don't give Pearl enough credit.

Pearl took a team on the road, in one of the toughest environments, and went toe-to-toe with the a top 3 team. Actually, forget the rankings. Tennessee was never a top 15 team. They're a top 25 team and that's about it. UT's half court D has improved drastically thoughout the season and their 3-2 showed as much yesterday. Let's not forget that 3 players on UT are logging sufficient minutes when, for all intents and purposes, they should never see the floor in a game like that.

Cal adjusted well at half time and latter in the game, but yesterday Pearl did more with less. I'd give Pearl the slight coaching advantage yesterday.

I'm talking about this year.

Cal brought in those players. It's not like those were leftovers from Billy G. Recruiting is a huge part of coaching the college game. Yes, anyone can make the tourney with UK's roster, but at the same time, how many coaches can bring in that class?

I never questioned Cal's recruiting ability, whether he cheats or not.I just think he gets too much credit.

Cal's comments before & after game are very interesting. In speaking to Erin Andrews he said that he tells his players not to listen to him, just to go out there and play. Whyen she said wait till the players hear that they don't have to listen to you, he replied , it doesn't matter, they don't listen to me anyway.

When asked after the game why they had such a difficult time with the Vols zone, he said, we didn't prerpare for it. This one's on me. I didn't have the team ready for it.

IMO this demonstrates Pearl's superiorty as he outcoached Cal once again:):):salute::salute:

I know you. You are the guy who calls the sports talk guys, says something stupid, then says - “I will hang up and listen”.

Right?!?

Pearl does a great job in the underdog role with undermanned teams. I wish he were as consistently successful when he's riding a favorite.

Colby your an idiot if you wouldnt play for Jim Calhoun :mega_shok:

No no no man he is a great coach but it would just be the knowing that at any point his health could take him out of the game and then an interm would be coaching.

who was a favorite vs UK again?
& vandy is ranked.
watch the games.
first off, the refs have been treating us like we stole their boyfriends the last few losses. that is hard to overcome no matter who you are.
secondly, we don't have the talent. renaldo is not orlando, maze is inconsistent, hopson plays soft, jp can't shoot, nobody can make a FT...
to have so many mismatched pieces and still pull out so many big wins shows what a great coach CBP is.
was anyone stupid enough to look at this team play and expect to win the SEC? and that was before losing tyler, which hasn't hurt that much because he was playing bad too.
even still, we've had worse years.
get behind your vols and their coach. next year we'll be much deeper, and this year isn't over.
besides, all that matters is tourney production, right? you haters always say that, so stick with it.

The blaming of officials is something that South Carolina Football fans do.

You can't believe anything he says. I have been wondering if it is better to get McDonald's AAs and they come one and done or to have lower rated star players who will stay at least 2 or 3 years? I would invite some opinions on this. The one and dones seem to be working for KY this year so far, but wonder over a period of 2 or 3 years it would result in championships. Of course KY has veterans like Patterson to mix in with the phenoms.
