mention is fine but full blown Newton orgies on set are quite a bit overblown. Funny but the highlights in week 1 were all him except when they add "but they lost to the Cardinals"

Same thing as tebow in college, every team he played had to take one or two guys out of pass coverage to spy because he was a threat to run for a first down with anything less than 15 yards to go. Made it much easier on him.

It seems you have an expectation of ESPN that doesn't fit with reality. Whether anyone likes it or not, Cam Newton is a star, has been performing at a star level so far this season, and he moves the ratings needle. ESPN puts stars on TV.

People that don't like it probably just need to avoid ESPN altogether. They put people on TV that draw ratings.

how many teams are running the wildcat now? Takes a while for NFL dc's to change but it will catch up with him (kinda like Vick)

Because they are running the game. There are better websites out there, but fox sports is a total mess and there is nothing else on tv for sports coverage.

your not gona be able to convince us that cam newton is anything for at least 4 or 5 yrs until he does something...throwing 800 yrds first 2 games good job...0-2 n prolly will finish around 500. like they do every yr

Newton is doing something. It's our thin WR corps and young defense that are not and those areas will improve in time...

I'll have to throw a caveat on to the Roethlisberger comparison. Because of PJ's 40 statement, it would be appropriate to say that Cam is like Roethlisberger, but much, much more mobile. It's a valid point.

The only reason I see cam becoming a decent player is what I said before. That said, the ultimate goal is contending for the sb, and the only way to do that any more is to have a qb that can read and operate in a no huddle at an elite level, eg peyton, brady, rogers, brees, rivers, etc. cam is not that kind of guy.
