Cam Newton

what perspective? He's doing well on a terrible team and should be talked about every minute when discussing NFL football. No need to talk about those teams winning and who looks like a contender for the title. Nope just talk about an 0-2 rookie QB

I hate Cam Newton too, but the numbers that he has put up in his first 2 games as a rookie are the best in the history of the NFL, and that doesn't even factor in that he also rushed for over 50 yards in his second game. Until Cam Newton is able to play the other 21 starting positions on the field these first two losses of the season can't be blamed on him.

Newton is doing something. It's our thin WR corps and young defense that are not and those areas will improve in time...

So we're supposed to compare every player based on 40 time?

In that case, Cam doesn't compare to Vick.

good grief it was more a comment on a scheme rather than a specific player. DC's had to figure out Vick and the wildcat (you'll notice I mentioned both) but were able to. Same will happen when they have a little more film on Cam

The only reason I see cam becoming a decent player is what I said before. That said, the ultimate goal is contending for the sb, and the only way to do that any more is to have a qb that can read and operate in a no huddle at an elite level, eg peyton, brady, rogers, brees, rivers, etc. cam is not that kind of guy.

milo,

We don't huddle.

I understand your point, though. I think he'll be fine.

So it's the best product out there, but you still complain about it? Seems miserable.

Where else can you go? Espn has done everything possible to dominate sports coverage, and they have. When you take radio, tv, internet and print as a whole, they are the only ones.

Sorry, do the Panthers run the Wildcat?

Jon Gruden- Hey Cam, give me a play you used to run at Auburn. Just one

Cam-

JG- Just any single play call from your year at Auburn

Cam- :ermm:

How can you ascertain that he'll never be able to operate a no huddle?? His grasp on the playbook given his limited exposure to it and the gimmick system he ran in college has been "incredible" according to coaches and trainers at IMG Academy where he worked over the summer...

have yet to see his 4 picks brought up either. Oh well

Three of which were against one of the best secondaries in football and two of which went to Charles Woodson who simply made incredible INTs both times. Btw, he also juked Clay Matthews out of his shoes at least 3 times...

Watching that moment was surreal..

but not really surprising based on the reports of him coming out of JC. I don't think he'll ever be able to make reads/calls at the line and doubt it's asked of him

He's made reads and adjusted the play several times during both games. Not sure where you guys are getting this info...

And you can't be an elite team in the nfl without that ability.

As long as he continues to throw for 420+ yards per game and then kicks in rushing yards on top of that, I would guess that his coaches won't give a damn whether he ever makes reads/calls at the line.

I find the criticism of this guy after his first 2 games quite astonishing, and like I said previously, I predicted he'd be a bust.

Defenses will have him figured out and contained by week four. Watch.

he won't be able to once NFL DC's get enough tape on him. It's takes them a while to adjust but when they do it pretty much ends the fad and you're back to playing football. Without the ability to do it at the line he won't be successful IMO. The QB's leading contenders can all do it

kinda like all the praise and it's still too early to tell if he's not

I'm pretty sure they run the G-gun now but not really sure

A Panthers fan would be able to tell us what they've been doing, but I don't think it's been the wildcat. Some info: The Bell Tolls: Real test for Cam Newton will come on the field - USATODAY.com

I hate Auburn more than any other team in the SEC, but to say Cam Newton can't be a success in the NFL because he ran the spread in the NFL is dumb. And to expect him to not throw INTs as a rookie is pretty dumb, too.

Geez, the guy has far exceeded expectations. To not be impressed with what he's done so far seems based out of preconceived notions or jealousy of some sort. I mean, he was drafted by a team that went 2-14 the previous season. Now they're highly competitive. They were AWFUL last year and now he's put them in a position to win.

What is he supposed to do? Be an All Pro as a rookie?

again, it was a comment on schemes in the NFL. The wildcat ran all over the NFL for a few weeks but it's no longer hot since defenses figured it out.
