Cam Newton

A Panthers fan would be able to tell us what they've been doing, but I don't think it's been the wildcat. Some info: The Bell Tolls: Real test for Cam Newton will come on the field - USATODAY.com

I hate Auburn more than any other team in the SEC, but to say Cam Newton can't be a success in the NFL because he ran the spread in the NFL is dumb. And to expect him to not throw INTs as a rookie is pretty dumb, too.

Geez, the guy has far exceeded expectations. To not be impressed with what he's done so far seems based out of preconceived notions or jealousy of some sort. I mean, he was drafted by a team that went 2-14 the previous season. Now they're highly competitive. They were AWFUL last year and now he's put them in a position to win.

What is he supposed to do? Be an All Pro as a rookie?
I got no opinion yet on Cam, but this? dont think so.

Have you seen the games this year? They've been in it till the end of both games. They could've won both games. How is that not competitive?

Anyways, I'm done with this thread. Still don't understand the criticism of Newton but it will always be there no matter what he does.

It's damn good to finally have a franchise QB prospect instead of the undrafted QBs we've had for so long. This will be an interesting season to watch with Cam under center, for sure...

All we have right now is an extremely small sample. No one should jump to conclusions after two games, but he's been better than expected so far, and that's a fact.

I guess every post praising someone should be accompanied by #sofar.

Jon Gruden- Hey Cam, give me a play you used to run at Auburn. Just one

Cam-

JG- Just any single play call from your year at Auburn

Cam- :ermm:

It was an embarrassing moment, but it's a good thing interviews don't determine team success. It's amazing to me that there are so many doubters when, in games, all Cam has ever done is dazzle us.

it's not hate it's just the facts. He can throw for hundreds of yards but it really all for naught if they don't win games

They were 2-14 last year.

Thus far he has been better than advertised, at times against Green Bay he made them look like a charity case, making throws that only a handful of QB's can make.

People don't give him credt because he took the money from Auburn. He's not the perfect chior boy. But he is better than everybody thought. He obviously has the skills. Give him a break, Peyton had great stats but Indy sucked his first yr. He's a rookie he is going to getted picked off. He is young but obviously willbe a top 5 qb in the next 3 yrs.

Thought this would interest some of you. Pro Bowl center Ryan Kalil of the Panthers on Newton in the AZ game:

"There were at least two times where I made a protection call and he changed it," says Kalil. "Basically he said, 'No, they're coming from over here.' And both times he was right. Hey, I saw the Gruden thing too. I wondered what he could handle. But we got both of those blitzes blocked in Arizona."

Standing still, how far do you think Cam Newton can throw a football?

Not sure but it's comparable to Vick and I've unfortunately had to watch Vick work the Panthers over his years in ATL.

edit: I also will concede that he doesn't have superior arm strength, I spoke in haste. But the two are comparable.
