It will be another 6 months until the NCAA announces lack of evidence and abandons the investigation.

I couldnt make a guess on when it would go public. Maybe less than a month? But I think they've traced the $ back directly and have the guy. Its just a matter of crossing T's and dotting I's.

We'll see. Could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Not me. This makes the SEC look very bad. We should just move on and leave this in the past. I'm sure there's a chance that Cam was bought, but I find it very hard to believe that Cam was the only guy playing in the SEC who was bought. It seems the NCAA will only investigate you if you win, I'm not stupid enough to believe that the losing teams are not cheating. This investigation will not change the fact that Cam was arguably the most dominant player that has come through the SEC. This old news, lets move on.

I completely disagree. If this gets blown off, when there is such widespread belief in a payoff, that's what will make the SEC look bad.

I wouldn't mind a different conference having the reputation of top cheaters.

Yes, I think Auburn is dirty. But the last person I would listen to would be a guest on the Paul Finebaum show. And especially Danny Sheriden. These are the same people that spewed lies about UT for two years during the Albert Means fiasco.

I guess old Tommy Gallion must have been too expensive so he had to use Sheriden to spurn the tales this time.

Just my opinion.

Here's my main beef with this. Cam was "reinstated" after being ruled ineligible for ONE day. The SEC just stood around and did nothing with regards to Cam's investigation. The hypocrisy and greed just stinks bigtime here.

As I stated earlier, I do not believe that Cam was the only player with eligibility issues last year. Yet we want to go after Cam because AU won a MNC and Cam won the Heisman. I will actually begin to care about "investigations" and "sanctions" when the NCAA drops a Mustang Nuke on the cheating programs. Until then, none of this garbage is that big of a deal to me.

mite be old news to some of you, but just heard on the Paul Finebaum show that Danny Sheridan is saying that the NCAA has found the bag-man and a witness during the Cam Newton Scandal. i don't know how creditable this Sheridan guy is but it can't be good for the barn!

Sheridan has been saying this for about week now. He works in Vegas and is usually spot on with his info. However, he also said that if the NCAA doesn't get the bagman to cooperate, it won't really matter.

Danny Sheridan was apparently just on Finebaum saying that he would release the name of the "3rd party bagman" that paid Cam Newton within a week or two. Said if anyone didnt believe him that he would put up as much money as possible and donate it to charity when he won.

tifwiw, according to poster on tos

Sheridan definitely said that. Said basically AU have pissed him off and now he is 100% pursuing this and would bet any AU fan any amount of money and donate the winnings to charity. That within 1-2 weeks he will have the bagmans name and possibly the witness.

Gonna be fun to watch both Bama schools go down in flames. All heck will break loose once the Barn gets hammered and they will make sure Bama's closet doors are opend and the skeltons will be in full view.

Personally, I don't have a problem with Bama. Nick Saban doesn't try to act like some sort of paragon of virtue. Chizik tries to portray the Barn as an institution of honor and dignity. For that reason, and many more, I hope that the NCAA all but shuts down Auburn University.

Actally Sheridan is very reliable and has a good track record. He said months ago on Finebaum's show that the Cam stuff was nowhere near done, while everyone else was saying it was. Finebaum is a joke, but Sheridan is one of the few I would trust. What he said on his show yesterday was straight up. Was begging Auburn fans to place bets of any amount and he would accept any of them and donate the winnings to charity. I doubt he puts his reputation up if he didnt know he would definately have the names within 2 weeks.

I agree with you about Chizik, he is an absolute joke and so are their fans. They havent shut up since beating Oregon. But Bama is just as bad. Their fans are the worst. if you listen to them they have never done anything wrong and its always been somebody else fault. Thats my beef with them. Hoping like hell both get nailed.

I doubt I have had as many encounters with Bama fans as you, but I have had more good encounters with them than bad ones. They seem to know what they're talking about when probed about their team/football in general. Although, I have met some of the homers you speak of.

whats this about?

whats this about?

He had made public comments about the "bag man" on the Finebaum show. Apparently some barners started ripping him in every public forum they could find and sending him hate mail. I guess Sheridan got fed up with it. He apparently doesn't like being called a liar.
