Cam Seldon enters portal

Trust me I'm happy he's a Vol. Tennessee coaches tend to catch h*** on this board for lack of development, but they tend to take low stars and turn them into superstars
It seems to me that the common denominator for playing running back for Tennessee is speed and more speed, that and being a willing blocker.

Good luck to Cam. The writing is on the wall that he's not going to get much playing time. Also, Heupel is looking to take a RB in the Portal.

Unless he’s a first round pick and has a 10 year career as RB1 in the league NFL RB money isn’t much more significant in the short term than what he could get by staying another year. He’s not going to make massive money on his first contract as a late round pick at RB, and he’s not a 3 down NFL back. If he takes out an insurance policy and can get a quarter to a half a million to stay for another year it probably wouldn’t hurt him much financially
A serious injury next year could ruin it all. Better take it when you can. Even with a 500k ins policy. 500k aint what it used to be.

Appreciate his time, effort, and giving his all for Tennessee while here.

Best of luck and I sincerely hope you find a spot that fits you well.

Small wasn’t fast, but he was successful. Bishop is a better version of Small. Lewis is fast. And big.
That’s exactly right. I probably should have added that Josh Heupel prefers to recruit speed and quickness in his running backs that get the majority of carries. Speed kills. He tends to use tight ends in lieu of a fullback or true power back.

I’m not exactly sure how insurance policies are priced, but I would imagine he could get one for at least a couple of million and probably 200-300k to stay for next year. 3M as a 22 year old and a college education would have him set for life. Especially someone like Sampson with a good head on their shoulders. I tend to agree with what you’re saying though. However making it to the league as a RB isn’t quite what it used to be

Disappointing, but nothing surprises me any more. It's a shame that these guys have to make the decision before the playoffs, but at the same time, maybe it's for the best. Time for Lewis and Bishop to shine! (After #6 does his thing, of course)

Makes me think Sampson may have told the coaches he's coming back next year to finish his degree. Just a thought before our keyboard coaches weighs in with, he has to go because he may get hurt if he stays.
You’re literally speculating on something that a player told a coach in your mind and calling anyone who says he should go while the getting is good a “keyboard coach.”
