Per Basilio, “from his source with the team”, the program was blindsided. Barnes is really pissed off. Carr did it to preserve his “redshirt”.
Transferring last summer would have been far more respectable, and most Tennessee fans would have at least understood. Bailing on your teammates midyear is low rent. And not even having a discussion with the staff is about as gutless as it gets. The more I hear about how it all played out, the more I say "good riddance".I'm just saying the kid was a top 10 SG prospect and top 50 recruit he came in and did what he was supposed to do and got recruited over by 23 year olds. Honestly thought he was going to transfer last summer.
Well he should of put the proper work in...especially on the defensive side to get more minutes. These guys know that when they sign to play for Barnes. Only persons fault this is is Carr's. Dude is a quitter and loses all respect from me. I hope he goes to some team we play in the future and we smash him.I'm just saying the kid was a top 10 SG prospect and top 50 recruit he came in and did what he was supposed to do and got recruited over by 23 year olds. No reason to apologize. There are tons of these situations throughout the collegiate landscape, all incentivized by this toxic environment that is college sports. To not even have respect for the coaching staff that recruited and supported you is just insane. Just leave without even having a conversation with the staff first to inform them of your decision? Speaks volumes of Carr’s character. Hate to say it, but it does.
Give an example of one college coach who doesn’t use the transfer portal. For better or worse, that’s college athletics in the here and now.I'm just saying the kid was a top 10 SG prospect and top 50 recruit he came in and did what he was supposed to do and got recruited over by 23 year olds. Considering that it was a pretty minor injury early on and he’s clearly just opting out, would he be eligible for a medical redshirt? I know it’s common for people to milk one for a couple extra weeks to get one, but we’re talking about 3 months extra here…
I don't care that it's selfish. RB put him in a corner, he chose to leave.
