Cameron Newton to Miss St.

He will beat out Bray simply by showing up. He may not beat out Stephens though. Stephens' arm is legit. If he can put the rest together he could be good. Big if, but look what CLK has done with Crompton the past two games and he's had longer to work with Stephens. JMO.

Sab, I'll give you the GA game, but he completed 46% of his passes against Auburn. I know he had 2 td's and 0 picks, but come on.

And how did he have more time to work with Stephens? I'm just curious.

I'm saying he would have had more time with Stephens. Most of the Spring, the Fall, and all season long. Then all of next year's practice. He'll have a year in the system and with these coaches longer than Crompton had at the same point in his career.

Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking about in the Auburn game. I read somewhere that his QB rating for that game was quite good, but 112 isn't that great. If his receivers hadn't dropped balls that first half, his stats would look MUCH better. 2 TDs to 0 INTs is pretty good still.

Ok, I gotcha on Stephes.

I guess when you put it in perspective, 2 tds and 0 picks is a pretty phenomenal game for Crompton

Wow.

We'll have to wait until Cam is drafted now to see whether or not he fits into a pro-style system. He's going to tear it up at MSU though. You watch.

:eek:lol: the only thing newton is getting drafted into is the mississippi penal league

I think the fact that Stephens hasn't gotten a chance this year is a pretty good indicator that he won't get it next year.

yea, i agree with that..... i don't think it's a given by any stretch that bray won't be our guy next year though.

I assume it will be one of the new guys. I'd guess Bray but I can't pretend I've been watching these guys. I just doubt it will be Stephens.

Exactly. It's going to take NS giving up his attitude and allowing the coaching staff to do their jobs with him for him to succeed with this staff. If he doesn't do that, I think he will transfer after Spring Ball if he doesn't beat out at least one of the guys.

don't know if he will transfer or not,but he will not beat out antbody next year.it will be Bray as your starter next year.:dance2:

The coaches don't share your optimism regarding Bray.

I disagree..Bray does have a chance to start because he will enroll early. Simms will be brought in to provide quality depth that Lamaison doesnt. I think Simms will be given an opportunity to start though.

How do you know that?

he doesn't...he's been preaching cam newton for 6 months and now his world is falling apart and he can't come to terms with it...he's having a mental breakdown and talking nonsense

+1...Bray just has better tools to work with, and for that reason, I'm thinking the coaches will be itching like poison ivy to get the kid up to speed ASAP...not redshirt him.

It's not like Simms would have a head start on the playbook and in the system. They'll come in at the same time...and I see it much like the Barkley/Corp situation. Everyone thought Corp would be handed the job with more experience and such...nope. Barkley had the tools CPC was looking for and he put the time in and looked sharper than Corp did. Bray has every chance to do the same.

He says that because if they did think he could come in and start from day one we would not be bringing in a JUCO QB. IMO they want to RS Bray his first year, which i agree whole heartedly. Him coming in as an EE does make things interesting tho.

did you read the volnation article? bray just said that the coaches told him he is going to have a chance to start as a true freshman.

Not trying to call you out....but how can you possibly know this? Have you talked directly with CLK? If they were not "optimistic" at all with Bray....why even offer him a scholly? Do you honestly think Matt Simms has anymore talent than Bray?
