Or how about don't act like a drunk jackass in public?

You can be drunk, loud, and have fun without being an obnoxious vulgar tool. If you can't, you shouldn't drink.

i don't drink, but i am very loud for my vols especially when they are on defense.

I believe its an overreaction as well, however there is one quote that caught my eye.

Anyone coming into the stadium under the influence of alcohol can be ejected or arrested.*

Chief Troy Lane is promising more enforcement this season.

So does this mean if Ive enjoyed 3 or 4 beers at a tailgate and the officer detects alcohol on my breath at the gate that I can be arrested? Or is this primarily for the idiots who go in black out drunk?
If you don't walk in stumbling drunk or cuss out a cop, you're not going to even be looked at twice.

Exactly, some people just have to be all up in other peoples business. I had season tickets in R back in the 90's. Behind me there was a group of fans that would have somebody kicked out of every game for having a bottle even when they were acting civilized.

The vast majority of the folks who I have been around at the many games I have attended are great people. There have been a few over the years that it would have been a service to society if they were carried to the top of the stadium and deposited over the edge.

I don't mind fans that are messed up--I've smuggled JD in more times than I can count--but if the cops are cracking down on idiots that make the game experience not as enjoyable for others, by all means go for it. Maybe my 30-year-old self with kids is more conservative than the 20-year-old student, but if you're excessively stumbling, excessively angry, excessively cursing (to the point where my kids are scared) or doing anything else excessive that makes a majority of the folks around you not have a good time---have fun in the drunk tank.

Exactly. Hauling away dip****s who can't handle their booze and ruin everyone's experience isn't stomping on the Bill of Rights.

Why would anybody text about you if you weren't causing trouble?

The person that text could have been drunk themselves and ticked off that you spoke to them. Or they just did it for fun... kind of like "SWATting" someone online. A jealous ex, someone that just doesn't like you or who you are seated with...

Many reasons why...

I too like to enjoy alcoholic beverages, and don't want the law involved but they are some fans that know they are going to show up and get $!#%faced and try to start trouble or just run that piehole non stop till somebody does something about it whether it's the person they are bothering or the law is called. I was at the Kentucky game last year and this guy behind me just had a problem with my camouflage,he was so hammered he didn't know we were stomping Kentucky. I took 3 quarters of his mouth well he didn't stay 4 the 4th and the law was not called. There has to be some intervention with these fans who can't come to a sporting events and keep it together.

Were his actions worthy of jail or even a citation?

KPD and Campus Police plan to haul away loud and rowdy drunks at the game. thus reducing the rowdy raunchy atmosphere that neyland used to be known for.

this is extremely sad times. as society turns to fascist.

Now if they'd just widen the seats or make obese people buy a second seat we'd really be getting somewhere

No joke.....there should be a rule that you have to declare the size of your @$$ when purchasing a ticket. I once had to sit beside a woman and her blubber pushed into me the whole game...to make it worse she ate enough food to feed the Brady Bunch during the game.
