Can Bruce Pearl bring UT basketball a national title?

I think he will, and if he does win one I think it'll be in the 2011-2012 season assuming that Scotty Hopson returns, Tobias Harris returns, and we ad a big man that can back-up Kenny Hall. By that point we'll two really good point guards that can finally solve our pg issues like we had in previous years. But I do agree with everybody it depends on how well he does in recruiting and can he continue to play the same style that brought us success in the tournament this past year.

My initial thought was "not likely", but then I'm on record as saying Pearl would never get past the Sweet 16.

He has the ability to. But we need another draw like this year in which some giants get toppled.

Not if Tennessee has the best team. Every year circumstances are different. We’re not always going to be a 6 seed needing more talented teams to lose. And when we are a lower seed we won’t always have the benefit of having lower seeded teams lose.

Both times we were a 2 seed we needed worse seeds to lose, but didn't get it and were subsequently upset.

I doubt we'll ever be the best seed on our side of the bracket.

If Pearl gets some players in the NBA he will be able to recruit top 10 talent and then it will only be a matter of time. I say he does it in the next decade. He is no calipari or Hewitt and when he has superior talent I believe he will not lose often.

Is garbage controlled-chaos crap As you call it. Is the best Tenn has ever had and yes He can.

Yes, Pearl is the best coach we have ever had. But if goes back to that style, we are not going anywhere in the tourney.

Absolutely. Granted, our draw in the tourney turned out to provide some favorable match-ups, but since the Pearl era began, I've always been confident we can pull out the win.

Recruiting will continue to grow each year, the sky is the limit.

1 Elite 8 and we're questioning titles?
I'll play along. Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? Not quite.

Think of it this way. Lloyd had a chance at Mary.

Can he? Sure.
Will He? Hard to answer. To many variables to make an accurate or educated guess.

It will be interesting to see the reaction of some on here (who are mysteriously missing from this thread) if Bruce wins a title before their precious Calipari does.

With that said: Bring the heat Bruce. Take us to the next level!

If that system is his garbage controlled-chaos crap, then no, he can't.

Sure you can...just ask Arkansas....its not so much a system...but its executing the system you have...and similar to football it has A LOT to do with spacing and mismatches.....BP is as good an "in game" coach as I have seen....Of course he can bring a NC to Tennessee...boy, we are getting bored in the dead zone before two a days...

He's not talking about the offense we run; he's referring to the press. Tennessee's press and Arkansas press are two different animals. Arkansas was a damn good defensive team under Richardson; however, when Tennessee's has employed the 1-2-1-1 as a staple in the defensive arsenal, our half-court defense absolutely sucks.

I think he can, but not without an elite PG. Every system he is going to run requires an athletic, pesky PG
