Can someone explain to me how Florida is in the top 5 in recruiting and Tennessee isn't in the top 10?

To the OP's point, what if UT was 5-7 and UF (headed to a bowl game) were 8-4? What would the rankings be then? UF would probably still be in the top 3-5. UT? Scary.

Well... We ARE coming off of an 11-2 season in which we should be reaping the benefits THIS year, but here we are. Whether you like it or not, Heupel's bunch is way behind the curve when it comes to recruiting. Being 7th, 8th or 9th in your own conference won't get it done. I realize the portal has changed the game, but the bottom line is you have to have equal or better talent the everyone else or you don't win championships. Excuses won't win championships either.

Have you looked at the differences between the 4th ranked class in the conference and the 8th?

Because they have 20 commits and we have 19. They have 3- 5 Stars and we have 2. We aren't that far behind though if you really look at the rankings. We would probably jump into the top 8 with a high 4 Star commit, but I feel like we are trying to save some room for some transfers right now. We have a really good solid class, just need a new DB coach to commit to us, so we can put Willie in the transfer portal.

It’s impressive that they’ve made it this far holding that class together. If you believe Twitter it seems some of their highly ranked commits are on flip watch.

Literally out recruited by Sunbelt Billy's 5-7 program. What is wrong with us?
Billy has a few solid closers on staff. I also think Heupel reserved NIL to bring back Sampson, O Line, transfers, upgrade secondary, and now freed up even more with Seaton.

You're correct! The difference is marginal at best. However... We need better talent either way to catch UGA or Bama or LSU for that matter. We can't catch up if we don't do better than middle of the pack in the SEC. I don't see how we get out of our position within the conference without better recruits.

I’d remove LSU from that. We beat LSU 40-13 in Baton Rouge last time we played and they’re currently ranked 12th in recruiting (with 27 commits) while we are 14th (with 19 commits).

Bama and UGA are different animals for sure.

No one has held serve with UGA and Bama in the recruiting game. Maybe OSU.

Regardless... Heupel needs to close well. Blame it on whatever, there are 7 teams in the SEC ahead of us. That won't come close to catching AL & GA.
Debates and conversations about recruiting will never be constructive if posters continue this ridiculousness. "Ahead of us" because they have a couple more points on the scale created by the recruiting sites is pure ignorance. UT recruiting is not at the level of a few SEC teams for this class (UGA, Alabama, UF for the time being). After that there is absolutely no discernable difference between the next grouping of teams. It will depend on how well each of those schools nailed evaluations and how well they develop. For instance, saying that Texas has a better class than UT right now because 247.com has them at 271.27 (91.68avg) points vs the 263.11 (91.62avg) points is beyond stupid. Treating the decimal points from 247.com recruiting analysis like they are NASA engineers doing math for the moon landing. Quit being dumb!
