Of course it's not exact science. Of course, the rankings don't DIRECTLY reflect future W&Ls. No one (including the services) would say otherwise. But they do mean something. To say otherwise is dumb.Debates and conversations about recruiting will never be constructive if posters continue this ridiculousness. "Ahead of us" because they have a couple more points on the scale created by the recruiting sites is pure ignorance. UT recruiting is not at the level of a few SEC teams for this class (UGA, Alabama, UF for the time being). After that there is absolutely no discernable difference between the next grouping of teams. It will depend on how well each of those schools nailed evaluations and how well they develop. For instance, saying that Texas has a better class than UT right now because 247.com has them at 271.27 (91.68avg) points vs the 263.11 (91.62avg) points is beyond stupid. Treating the decimal points from 247.com recruiting analysis like they are NASA engineers doing math for the moon landing. Quit being dumb!
They’ve been significantly better than us for the majority of the past 20 years. Add to that how much more instate talent they have in Florida compared to tn and there’s the difference. But realistically, the difference between the no.5 and the NO.11 class isn’t that significant. We could very well look back in 4 years and say the number 11 class was the best in the country. It’s really more about filling the class with high priority positions and then seeing the majority of those kids stay here and develop.
Based on our coaching staff versus theirs… I’d guess we’ll do more with our kids than they’ll do with theirs. I’d be shocked if Billy is still the coach in two years. And we know all too well what happens to the roster when a coach leaves.
Exactly even in a down year like this year they still had our number. They’ve been significantly better than us for the majority of the past 20 years.
