Can someone explain to me how Florida is in the top 5 in recruiting and Tennessee isn't in the top 10?

I don't see why we don't try to grab some of these Florida recruits, especially the out of state ones. Florida is a sinking ship right now and it shouldn't be that hard to talk them into jumping.

Yeah dumb people who make racist comments kind of pisses me off pretty quickly. Typically first thing out of someone’s mouth or keyboard is who they really are.
Thank goodness that's not the first thing I've written on this board then! Shoooo. Dodged that bullet.

Are you seriously comparing the Bama program when Saban took over to what Heupel took over at UT? Delusional.

Alabama had major issues at the time, I knew, I lived in the state. Mike Price had to be fired, Dennis Franchione bailed on Texas A&M, Mike Shula was like their Dooley, and Rich Rod turned them down. Saban came in during this chaotic time. Alabama went into Louisiana, Florida, etc. and recruiting against stronger in-state SEC programs.

Dude get real. There aren’t any Nick Sabans out there. He was complete luck. There isn’t a single soul on this planet that could have known what he would become. He is literally one in a million.

We’ll all agree recruiting needs to improve. But how do we do it? We will still be limited in total scholarships for a few more years. Our fan base. When Spyre came about and got started I assumed and expected mich more from this fan base. I mean I figured at least 100k people could afford $5 per month. But it hasn’t happened. So tell us how we improve recruiting? It’s easy just to say it. I know I have no clue how to improve it. But using Saban at Bama as an analogy to compare to Heupel here is foolish.

Exactly. He walked into a nightmare and it took him one year.

*We* need to recruit better. *We* need to close better. *We* need to spend more on NIL.

Rinse. Repeat. Ad nauseum.

How do *we* do any of that and how does creating threads like this accomplish anything at all?

Shout louder at those clouds. I think it's starting to work.

Yeah why should fans get on a message board at all right? Just complain about people making threads about topics they feel are important. That seems to work.

My point is that Alabama went into other states and recruiting players from those states to his programs.

I think Tennessee should be able to out recruit a Florida team that hasn't had a winning season in over 3 years. If not, get ready for another 29-16 loss to them.

I would happily take on the job for the salaries some of these guys get. I have been successful at everything I do at my company and am moving up the ladder. No reason we should be getting out recruited by Florida. I would call every one of their players and give them a lowdown on whether they want to play for a team that is going to fall apart next year and will likely win 4 games or go play for a team that went 11-2 and now 8-4.

I also don't understand why we couldn't pay Tyler Baron to keep him. Maybe we are just not raising enough NIL Money right now.

I am not trying to be hard here. Our class could be better than Florida and others. Perhaps are stars are better they were just miss-ranked but it is starting that we are still 8th right now in recruiting rankings in the SEC and are getting beat by programs that are struggling worse than Tennessee.

It was bad enough that we lost to Florida this year on the field but they are also beating us in the rankings. We are going to continue to be mediocre until we overcome this issue. Continue the way it is and we will still see these 38-10 losses or whatever at home against Georgia and be turning the game off at halftime.

Napier and his staff can recruit. They are better recruiters than coaches. The only reason we lost to them this year was because of injuries. If we would have played UF when Cooper came back we would have beaten them by 14-17+.

I think it was more than just injuries although I do think injuries impacted the Missouri and Georgia games.

We didn't have a lot of intensity in that first half and they seemed to out coach us at times. The second half turned in our favor but those critical 50/50 plays went against us (especially on some of those close calls by the refs. People talk about Alabama but that was the game that had me angry at refs).

EDIT: This season brought me back down to Earth regarding Heupel's coaching. I thought he was going to be like a Steve Spurrier coach that would outsmart and beat opponents with his game plans. This year, we didn't have it and he seemed mortal. I don't think he is a bad coach and we should fire him or anything, he just wasn't the outstanding ELITE coach I thought he could be. Still glad to have him and he is a lot better than what we had in the past but between some of the mishaps this past year and the mediocre recruiting, I don't think he is going to be a Saban, Spurrier, or Smart type coach that can have us in the Championship hunt regularly.

Excuses, no excuses, more talent in the state than ours, we're being picky with filling specific positions, we are limited on schollys, whatever... back and forth, back and forth...

Facts- with the last three seasons/records in the books, where we should be trending, existing young talent, a supposedly strong NIL, an Elite QB about to take the reins, top tier facilities and fanbase................ whatever the slim margin between rankings, at this point with us being ranked 8th in recruiting in the SEC is not good or acceptable at this point when you stack everything up. Sorry, but there's no amount of excuses that can cover it all. This coaching staff has to do better.

The UF game was injuries. Cooper was out and I believe either Mincey or Crawford was out. If you don’t understand the importance of losing your starting center then ask Peyton or Tom Brady how important they are.

Mediocre recruiting? He has done a better job recruiting than anyone since Fulmer. Given what Huepel walked into, your expectations seem unreasonably high. Look at the coaches you are comparing him to? Jesus man. Is he gonna be a Saban or Smart? No. Who is? Spurrier wasn’t in the championships on a regular basis.
