Can the free market fix "School Shootings"?

Hold schools accountable for the safety of children. That would be the market answer. If you require the zone to be gun free, you take 100% liability for the safety of all occupants
Extend that to the state.
If someone isn’t allowed to carry for self defense then the state should pay every victim

There were 19 cops who stood around for over an hour while innocent children got killed. The supply was there and it did nothing.

We're talking about a free market solution and you are essentially saying that won't work because a government-supplied solution failed....

We’re talking about how security failed. Public or private security is still security at the end of the day.

I get that and agree we need to do better at securing schools but that's not the real problem we have here.
And I don’t think there’s a single answer. But making schools a grad target is definitely part of the answer
How big a part is debatable

I just don’t want our schools to be turned into fortresses or prisons.

Security is a broader concept than a security force made up of people...and no, private is not government at the end of the day. You have got to be kidding. Have you been to the post office? What about a UPS store? How do they compare?

There’s one big difference you’re missing. Accountability

Who knows if the Uvalde police will get fired. Who knows if private security would cower like the Uvalde police did.

What makes you think private security wouldn’t piss down their leg like public security did? Do you really believe their mindset would be “Oh no, there’s gunfire! I better confront the shooter because I’m private security and not public!”

Did you miss the part where I said security is a broader concept than just a security force? I provided an example today, ITT.

If private security does cower, you have a lot more options for how to deal with them than you do a local sheriff. They power they have on a local level is insane.

Like what? Asking as I know very little about qualified immunity, and of the top of my head it’s the only thing I can think of that cops have and private security doesn’t.

So depending on our tech level or budget at the time we can be either here

I'm not speaking about qualified immunity. I'm talking about the fact that your county sheriff is basically untouchable between elections. Other than their election, they have very little accountability in most jurisdictions.

No argument there. I want to see what, if anything, happens to the sheriff and cops.
