Can the impossible happen?

Not sure a close loss by TCU will do anything.

TCU has the #1 SOR, bama’s is 5th
TCU’s SOS is 35th, playing the 10th ranked team will increase this, bama’s is 8th

TCU has wins vs 10th ranked, and 20th ranked

Bama has wins vs 20th and 24th

Common opponent: TCU beat a full strength Texas by 7, Bama beat Texas without their QB by 1

If TCU loses they would have 1 loss by the 10th ranked team

Bama has 2 losses by the 7th and 14th ranked teams (LSU will drop further if they lose)

TCU made it to their championship game, thus played an extra game that Bama did not play.

To me it looks like TCU would have to lose badly.
They would put Bama in if they could, but they have in my opinion unjustifiably jumped them over one team already. That would make two and would be a bad look.

Wouldn't lsu winning actually help UT? I'm thinking UT > LSU > UA and if lsunis the secchamp, that's a path? I think the Utah win puts OSU in. Georgia is in. Michigan is in. Both those would only have 1 loss if they lose tomorrow. If TCU loses then bama or UT will get in, my opinion.
LSU winning absolutely helps UT. We would have a blow out win versus the SEC champs. If this happens we should be ranked over bammer.

Hate to say it but Ala is deserving. Only lost on two game ending plays - don't have a terrible loss like UT. If UT had taken care of business at SC we would be in.

They are no where near deserving. They could easily have four loses. Were as we pretty much stayed in control of every one of our games except two.

Also, we beat them.

It’s unreal to keep hearing posters defend Bama. Their best win is over Mississippi State. That’s something you’d say about a Jeremy Pruitt team.

I guess in a few hours we will start to see what will or will not unfold today. I will say if the impossible happens and a 2 loss team gets in, it should be TN. I'm not arguing the whether they should or not - just that TN should be the top 2 loss team.

I understand the reaction the week of the SC loss to drop TN below Bama. But when SC beat Clemson and LSU lost and TN took care of Vandy IN THE RAIN without Hooker, the poll should have righted itself. We really need someone out there beating the media drum for us.

And the committee and the media and some of our fans need to stop with the SC thing - a loss of 22+ points= a loss of 22+ points regardless of team. They are probably going to penalize USC heavily for the Utah loss like they did TN and Clemson. But they didn't do that with OSU. If the impossible happens and we see two other teams in similar situations - will they be treated like OSU or like TN/Clemson?

The committee has been all over the place this year.

Would really be pissed if Bama sneaks in there somehow… this committee is a joke!

If all the committee has to consider is who gets in--Bama or Vols, I don't think they could possibly put Bama over Vols. Tennessee beat Bama by scoring over fifty points against them in their head to head!

If TCU wins they're in and if they lose Alabubba is in and it'll be a two-conference championship. I hate that OSU makes it after their loss to Michigan but it is what it is.

The SEC East has wins over
Utah PAC 12 Champs
Pitt
Clemson possibly ACC Champs
Oregon good PAC 12 team

Sec West
Texas

No logical reason that Bama would go over us!
Stop 🛑 with the we got beat by USCe stuff.
USCe would beat LSU if they played today!

Our overall body of work is better plus we won the head to head!
It’s that simple!
We played a tougher schedule!

Stop doing this to yourself. Bama and UT have the same chance to go to the playoffs that we did this time last week, which is none. They aren't taking a 2 loss team over a 1 loss team.

Danny White needs to do what Danny White does best. Politics. He needs to be on the phone with whoever making our case.

I don’t care if he has to pull a Pappy O’Daniel, just get it done.

I’ll just be glad when tomorrow is over so we can stop having these silly debates and focus on our NY6 bowl game.

I just want to see chaos today. Since we are not going to the playoffs, would like to see all the teams that can lose, lose to devalue the idea that we do have 4 teams that are the best of the best - because in reality we have a group of 6 (7 if you include TCU) with 3 of those in the SEC and 3 in the Big 10. And there is really no dominant team among them.

The committee is lazy. They aren’t looking at things in this type of detail. They look at AP and Coaches polls and make a determination based off what little football they watched that weekend. They have an agenda to get the 4 teams that have reputation in playoffs. It’s all BS

If and its a very remote "if" Georgia loses, they are not coming out of the top 4.
Georgia has a chance to win the SEC Championship and the National Championship without ever playing Alabama. We could not say that for a long time, maybe ever. Hope the new system is more fair to everyone.

First off, yes i know, the stain of the USCe loss will be a difficult one to overcome, but can the right chips fall into place to jump the Vols over Bama?

Utah, beating USC knocks them out. Keep in mind Florida beat Utah and we in turn beat Florida, Bama can't claim this.

Clemson beats UNC, propping up Clemson and in turn USCe, making our loss perhaps look somewhat less terrible.

UGA beats LSU which diminishes our win, yes, but makes Bama's loss look a little worse.

It's all minor things, and if TCU and USC win It's all moot anyway. Not to mention if the committee will even take this all into account, but it's interesting to think about. It's also great to be having playoff possibilities talk on championship weekend!!!

I’ll pilot the space shuttle before we get into the playoff after being embarrassed by USCe.

And even if we did, by some miracle, make it in, do you really think we’re going to make any noise with JM3 at QB? In the games he’s played, I’ve seen him overthrow an open receiver or a sure fire TD prob a dozen times. Dude has a cannon, but he should have learned to play center field instead of QB

I get your opinion, but my opinion is with an equivalent record and a head to head victory, it makes your point mute....In fact, even the playoff committee's own published criteria for rankings says likewise.

There’s other unpublished criteria that doesn’t make it MOOT.
