We're 6 practices in.

They just put on pads like 3 days ago.

QB is the position where the offseason rust is the most obvious.

Our QB's started slow in the spring and were very sharp by the end.

Again..... 6 practices.....

Can we give them some time to get into a rhythm? I'm already hearing "4 win season" and "If Ferguson had stayed" talk.

Let's step away from the ledge.

Biggest complaint I have about what little I have seen in the videos is they are consistently underthrowing balls that cannot afford to be short and overthrowing balls that they cannot afford to be long on.

Both of those will result many interceptions. Again that is just from limited viewing but it seems to the consensus according to those watching practice. I hope they get it fixed, but you would think throwing against air defending a receiver and no pass rush would be much easier than the opposite.

Agree, we'll know a lot more about the QB situation as we get closer to the opener and once the practices get run at game speed, but I still think Butch will play it close to the vest no matter what the media says

Can you please speak English? Volnation has no idea what "pump the brakes" means.

Practice #6 friend........ a lot of practices between now and then to shake the rust off, get in a rhythm, and get it corrected.

The videos are slightly damning right now. But I can wait until a couple scrimmages to really get freaked out.

Before we ever get to game 1, some people will call for Butch to be fired...chicken littles

OP must desperately want to pad his "like" count.

Don't blame him. Let's see.

Lane Kiffin is an idiot clown! Derek Dooley is an incompetent d bag and I hope Dez Bryant yells at him every game this season.

Nick Saban is shorter than Derek Dooley's list of coaching qualifications. GBMFO!

How in the world are Florida State, LSU, Alabama and other successful programs winning so many games without a devoted QB coach?

"Shaking the rust off" implies they were good but regressed during the off season and need slight work to get back to that level. From what I saw last year no one was "good" and major work needed to be done to be SEC QBs. Looking at practice footage they need to do a heck of a lot more than shake off the rust. That said, I think Worley will win the starting job by being just a game manager and Lane and Hurd will be the offensive stars

These QBs have been throwing to receivers all summer long and going to camps. Throwing balls in the dirt or 10 feet over their heads is more than shaking off the rust. Somebody needs to take a sand blaster to them.

I don't buy the "Shaking the rust off" excuse. Worley supposedly got high marks at the Manning Passing Academy this summer and we all know that these guys have been throwing every day. There can several attributes to the inaccurate passing game. Either the qb's are not throwing with proper mechanics or the receivers are not running crisp routes. If you combine both the end result is disastrous.

I totally agree! People are making too much of this crap. I have watched all the RTI vid's plus have seen hubbs videos also and I have seen a tight QB battle. I have never played QB but as a CB in Div 1AA ball I've seen my share and trust me, this is normal for 6 days into practice. Easier to throw without shoulder pads and the balls look crisp and on target but these guys are just getting warmed up.

I make no bones about JW being my fav because I have talked to the kid several times and enjoy his feedback on all things CFB related. Smart kid and his attention to the little things are paying off. But I'm open to anyone taking the reigns and leading us. But JW is in all respects is taking more hits than Jonathan Crompton at the position and I for one having played college football,(unlike almost ALL posters on this forum) understand what it takes to play at this level. These kids deserve your respect instead of your ridicule.

It's so easy to tear someone down when you couldn't even carry the load of their shoes... or jockstrap that these kids go through. More than not... most of these people are criticizing kids who unlike themselves have gotten scholarships to play ball at the university they claim to love and care about but deem themselves worthy of degrading and trying to humiliate these splendid athletes.

Unlike most of the posters here, my money goes to scholarships and to the program I love and cherish. The fact I played CFB means I'll never talk ill toward a player doing something the vast majority of our fans could EVER DREAM of doing. Down grade or talk about a student athlete on the d1 level and you make yourself out to be a FOOL. (IMO) I'm not popular on this site nor do I care to be because I see the good and accept the bad, because I know what these kids are going through.

Lighten up and give these scholar athletes the credit they deserve. Before you belittle or degrade someone doing something you could never dream of doing, step back and think before you post. My ignore list is too full of idiots on this forum and the list grows longer.

Watching UT-Bama game from 1994 today (Peyton's freshman year). Brandon Stewart came in & moved the team pretty good. I remember some controversy on which QB should be the VOL starter. If THIS were today, I wonder how Vol Nation would respond?:whistling:
