Can we pump the brakes on the meltdown over QB play please?

Well I don't know.

What I do know is I played basketball all 4 years in High School, and if I went a week without shooting a ball, even a few days, I would be rusty. These guys have gone 4 months. Granted they may have thrown the ball around some in those 4 months, but they aren't just throwing a ball around anymore. They are throwing bullets, fades, leading receivers on routes, hitting them in stride, etc.

They are rusty. Give them time.

Why do you feel the need to condescend to strangers? I hate to tell you this, but playing an entirely different sport in high school does not give you any more insight into the QB situation than any other person.

You're going to have to provide examples of where I condescended him anywhere in that post.

Even in the slightest.

The quarterbacks on Tennessee's roster are struggling with accuracy against air. Can't really argue that right now. I'm sure they will improve during camp but I don't have any confidence in a quarterback that needs a month of practice to be accurate throwing the ball. All of the quarterbacks have had accuracy problems since they've been at Tennessee. It's not likely that those problems will suddenly go away in a few more weeks. They are what they are at this point, and quarterback play will not good this year.

Now, Tennessee has weapons at the skill positions that will help make the quarterbacks look better than they are (see North bailing Worley out last year vs. SC), but that position will struggle. That's not saying that it will prevent Tennessee from having some sort of success and I expect a bowl game this year, but anyone that thinks having concerns now is unreasonable is being obtuse.

"Sealed off, brick by brick. We'll have us a little book barbecue in the yard. They will see the flames for miles. We'll dance around like wild indians. You understand me? Catching my drift?...or am I being obtuse?"

"No, now you're being acute"

We're 6 practices in.

They just put on pads like 3 days ago.

QB is the position where the offseason rust is the most obvious.

Our QB's started slow in the spring and were very sharp by the end.

Again..... 6 practices.....

Can we give them some time to get into a rhythm? I'm already hearing "4 win season" and "If Ferguson had stayed" talk.

Let's step away from the ledge.

Totally agree! Fans need to realize also that it is what it is. We have 3 guys that are all pretty close with each have a quality of some sort over the other but none is exceptional at anything. Having said that I'll take the one that has experience, command of the offense and makes the least mistakes. Right now that is the best we can hope for in 2014.

I trust the coaches to pick that guy and stick with him!

It will get better as soon as we get a QB coach.........be patient....in 8 or 9 years we will get a bowl game.

It isn't always a coaching problem. The reason for the panic is that we all clearly witnessed the talent (er shortcomings) at the QB position last year. Our current group simply lacks the ability to deliver the ball with consistent accuracy.

This season will be defined by that position. If they play better than expected, so will the team. If they play like last season, it will be similar results.

I will not judge coaches until I see them with better talent. At any position, QB included.
