Can you IMAGINE CPF demanding a celebration penalty?

No. I was there. When an FIU player intentionally runs over a kicker and throws punch, I feel very comfortable calling that the instigating act.

Probably because unlike Miami, the UGA players didn't end up swinging their helmets and causing a brawl.

The Miami/FIU brawl and the UGA TD celebration are not even remotely the same.

In addition, the UGA radio team wasn't talking about taking the UF players out into the back and beating them up.

Sigh, that Miami guy....what an idiot

UGA has stomped on the opposing team's midfield insignia multiple times. They also took their team picture with their shirts off and large chains hanging around their necks. Their players can only get drafted by the Bengals. David Pollack may be a really morally straight guy, but most of these guys aren't choirboys.

Choirboys? Most of their players should be in jail. No argument there.

As for stomping and all that...oh who cares? UF stomps on LSU's logo, AU has done that too....South Carolina tried it a few years back...it happens in the SEC...sad as that may seem.

You know...it took me weeks to forget that incredibly ghey UGA pic and know you have put it back into my head. Damn you

No, its disrespectful every time. And its not that common.

Stomping on a logo is just plain silly. Celebrating a score against the Gators is a no-brainer.

WOO!!
:cheer:

Now will we see high school and pee wee league teams emulate their heros to "pump up" there teams? Will it be sportsman like then or just good coaching?

i wouldn't have my team do it now, but i wish that i had thought about doing it first.

No, its disrespectful every time. And its not that common.

Yet it still occurs every so often in the SEC....as we have seen by UGA, AU, UF, USC, and LSU in the last 5 years alone....probably 1-2 I am missing too

It isn't something that makes me stop and say "OH MY GOD!" anymore...

I can't believe we are going to bring up "disrespect" either...is it "respectful" to put down a teams flag in the middle of another teams field? Not at all...yet we have still done it...and I dont have a problem with it.

No, but that has nothing to do with stomping on a mid-field logo, even if my favorite team has done worse.

Yes they do because they show how disrespectful acts occur in the SEC yearly.

It happens...people need to stop getting so upset when it happens because almost every team will have committed some sort of so-called disrespectful act

I hope UT implants that freakin flag into Sanford Stadium next year and every other 2 years. F'em

I just want one thing. Mark Richt should catch the same hell Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson caught for allowing their players to be exuberant. I find it absolutely hilarious that people who have tried to paint the U as the ultimate bad guy program are now celebrating UGA taking a page out of the Miami book.

when i was young and playing ball i used to try to act like the players from the johnson and erickson era. i just didn't have the play to back it up the same way that they did. :). i love the way the players knew they were good and didn't hide it. i believe that kinda gave them an edge.

I can think of several other places I'd like 'em to implant that flag.

I feel like planting the flag is at least somewhat exalting one's own team. Stomping on the logo does nothing but degrade the opposition. There's no need to further degrade a team you just beat. Especially if that team is already as degraded as they can possibly be.

I'm talking about Vanderbilt.

Well....

Potential good: Team gets fired up and you win

Potential bad:
fires Florida up, and they whip you
it starts a fight
someone gets ejected
the refs decide to call more than the 2 penalties they called.
someone gets hurt being stupid celebrating your first touchdown (don't tell me this doesn't happen)

To me, coaches work to do what it takes to give their team the best chance of winning. Pulling a Les Miles and being an idiot might work sometimes, but it's STILL a dumb move.

i'd call it pulling a mark richt. it worked, we can say what if all night. right now it works 100% of the time. it didn't start a fight, no one got hurt, and georgia won the game. comeback with an argument when it fails with a tragic result.

Please explain how you think disrespectful acts occur all the time and some examples from this year would be nice. I bet you cannot name more than a few by a few different teams. Unless I'm missing something, I'm not seeing all this disrespect.

And yes, F UGA.

Since you are such a big Miami fan, what's your take on the possibility of Jimmy Johnson or Butch Davis replacing Houston Nutt?

If you don't want to see it, you won't. Some people prefer keeping the blinders on in hopes of thinking their team is full of angels who can do no wrong.

In today's game, especially in the SEC...emotions run ridiculously high and people do things others would consider "disrespectful" or "classless" or whatever else people call it these days after their team usually has lost.

This year we got to see UF stomp on LSU's logo, an AU player taking out the other team's All-American knee, UGA jumping on Vandy's logo, and some others I can't even think of off the top of my head

I would be stunned to see Butch bail after one season at UNC. However, I would not be at all surprised to see Jimmy go home to cement his legacy. If he does, Arkansas will win the SEC within 3 years. The SEC West will be the best coached group of teams of all time.

I don't see how Jimmy needs to cement his legacy. It seems like going to Arkansas could really only tarnish his coaching career. They seem to be pretty low on talent after this year. I'm sure he could rebuild, but it would take more than I think a guy in his mid-sixties would want to invest.

Jimmy Johnson would recruit a top 5 class this year. They would be loaded with elite talent in 2 years.

What? What does my team have to do with it?

A supposed illegal block and stomping on logos are not even in the same category, but nice 2 examples. That's dirty play (or could have just been a bad decision) vs blatant disrespect.

He also would take great pleasure in rubbing Frank Broyles' face in his success, since the imbecile thought hiring Ken Hatfield over JJ was a good idea.

I think after the Dolphins job, Jimmy is enjoying to much face time on Fox to ever coach again. I don't think it's a question of age with Johnson, it's a question of want.
