Can you IMAGINE CPF demanding a celebration penalty?

What? What does my team have to do with it?

I have no idea who your team is nor do I really care. As far as I am concerned, everyone has blood on their hands in terms of this whole "disrespectful" or "classless" argument

That's a good point. If Jimmy wants to coach, he'll dominate.

That's true to a degree, I just don't know if he could pull in the defensive type players that he had at UM. Trying to go in there and recruit for Arkansas right now would be a VERY hard thing to do. UM's defense next year will be dominate once again though.

Wow what a long thread and its always a pleasure to post here. (Even though some of you would like to plant flags in some strange places).

first of all the move was great for the UGA players and the UGA fans to build momentum. I think that Richt accomplished two things with this
1. Sent a message to Florida that no matter what we are UGA and we are not going to roll over and play dead any longer. This is going to be a war and you better be ready.
2. Sent a message to the UGA players (going back to the Vandy thing) that this is when you celebrate. Against our hated rival, defending sec champs and defending National Champs. Not against and underfunded and understaffed traditional SEC doormat.

Butch is waiting on a big money offer from a top program---he'll bail when the money comes.

Richt is now officially in the class of the thug coaches and players at fsu and miami. But, he played at miami and coached at fsu, so it makes sense.

Wow now that is absurd. Apparently you have no idea of his past actions. Maybe you should think before you type.

Maybe you should look at what he did for Jason Allen and Tyrone Prothro and ask those guys if he is a thug.

Great points. The only reason I think it was a stupid move is because they gave up 30 yards. Not classless or anything like that.

And IF there had been a brawl break out, I firmly believe Richt would have his walking papers handed to him.

But nothing bad happened and he showed tremendous faith in his team. You can't fault him for that.

Richt is a good coach. He is one of the few coaches in the conference I actually like. I am glad he did that on Saturday. Urban Meyer is a good coach, but he is a piece of trash IMO. I loved that move by Richt. Coach Fulmer would NEVER do anything like that.

I think he was willing to go ahead and give up the yards and points just to make a statement to the UGA and UF players. We had to play with fire and emotion to be able to win this game (something we definatly did not do against you guys).

I think he was willing to give up 15 but not 30. His guys just took it a bit too far (which he probably knew going in). It worked out on the kickoff but could have given UF great position.

I loved the call by Richt too. We were watching and everyone around was amazed he would do that. No, CPF would not do something like that but you have to wonder why MR did it against UF but failed to get his players up for UT.

I still think it was a bad move. Yes, Georgia won, but giving Florida the ball at the 50?

I could not agree with you more. If the players and fans could not get up for this game then he has more problems that are far worse on his hands. I am not a fan of gimmicks such as this. I don't think they work.

i have met coach richt, Mucho respect for him, we were down for his football camp, and one of my players father passed away while we were down, and he came over and prayed with my team, and sent flowers to the funeral, top notch, top class guy, i hate UGA, but i have the utmost respect for CMR

That is a great story. Thanks for sharing.

Fade, i thought it was awesome. if i were a GA fan, i'd of been very excited to see that kind of energy in that kind of game.

I definatley was very pumped. I hope that we can play with that type of emotion for the rest of the season.

It might be a stupid thing to do, but I loved it! UGA and UF were slugging it out after that. I hate to see teams play flat, one of the reasons UT loses to lesser teams. As I said on a gator board, UF would have won the game if UGA did that every score, because , UF got a TD after 3 plays, so all that really did was fire up UF.
UF lost because Tebow was hurt, they expect too much from him against sec Ds. The announcers were saying that game hurt his heisman race, but for me it showed how much of the offense he is, without him at 100% UF is medicore at best on O.

It is interesting how much intensity that gave the game, for some reason players do not play at the intensity they could, because you could see the level go up after that play.

I read somewhere today that Richt apologized .

42-30, they work. there's a distinct difference in getting up for a game and getting so freaking pumped up crazy that there is no way in hell that the opposition will prevail. more than anything, as i've said before, after the celebration the georgia players played loose the rest of the game.

Richt said he thought only those players already on the field would celebrate. Instead, virtually the entire team charged into the end zone.
"On the day of the game I re-emphasized to the team that this was not going to be an individual celebration, but a team celebration," Richt wrote. "Again, I was expecting the 11 players on the field to be doing the celebrating, not for the bench to clear as it did.
"I understand that the entire team running on the field created the potential for an altercation and that excessive celebration is not in compliance with the Southeastern Conference sportsmanship policies and expected standards. My only intention was to create enthusiasm."

i really think it through Florida off their game! The dawgs called them out and i think it rattled the gators.

It fired up Florida more--at least temporarily. UGA was already fired up--didn't need the artificial show.

So you are able to see in the future or something and can tell that nothing would have been different without the team celebration? I seriously do not think so, college football is affected by emotion and by thinking they could win, they did. After all they knew what they were going to do before GA scored. That fired them up to score in the first place.

If you really think that then you know very little about truly competitive sports and especially football. Emotion wears off much sooner than most realize. UGA beat them because they were better prepared and took advantage of UF weakness. There really is nothing more to it. And being as you say pumped up crazy can actually and often does cause much more problems than it causes benefit.
